Pancakes pancakes pancakes. A super solid breakfast diner where you're surprised there's not usually any line.

Very authentic Portland breakfast joint, of all their locations, this is my favorite. Food is standard, but atmosphere is lively and it's fun eating in the heart of Hawthorne. I usually get the blueberry pancakes.

When I think of breakfast I imagine pancakes, waffles, toast, biscuts and gravy, eggs, omlets, and all the rest of your traditional breakfast food. Well if your looking for your big filling breakfast this is not the place for you. Since I was under the impression it was a great breakfast place I had my hopes up only to get let down by the horrible selection. I had to order potato cakes and a salad because for us traditional breakfast lovers their is nothing to eat. Not everyone wants a whole foods breakfast if so we could cook it at home.

Best omelets! Great Value! – First off let me just say I have eaten here numerous times and have always enjoyed the food. I have only eaten their omelets and have not had any of their "lunch" items. Hands down these are the best omelets I have ever eaten. Very creative and delicious. Another big bonus is that they have many very healthy options.I must say the the whole meal deal with omelet, potatoes, and a scone or toast is a real value. I push myself to eat everything on the plate when I go because it is just so darn good! They have great coffee too! I don't go out for breakfast very often but when I do I always go to Cup And Saucer. They are a very busy place and you may have to wait a bit, but it has always been worth the wait. Regardless of how busy they are my water glass and coffee cup always stay full. There customer service is excellent.

They also serve the best cornmeal pancakes I have ever eaten. ( ok, I have only ever had cornmeal pancakes at Cup and Saucer, but they are absolutely terrific!) I truly believe that everyone must try the cornmeal pancakes at least once. I would actually go there just for the cornmeal pancakes! MMM!

very slow service-- so so food, think--tats manditory for job? – We waited for 50 minutes for a table, many other customers left. We ordered and there was only 3 other tables of people b/4 us, total of 7 breakfast, it took 45 minutes for our breakfast to arrive. Once it did arrive they never did check back to see how things were going, just dropped off the bill and took the plates. Breakfast was just so-so. Won't be going back, this is the second time for bad service.

I'm surprised... – that nobody mentioned the obscene amount of fruit flies swarming above the tables. Also, twice in a row, we didn't receive the correct meal. Our pancakes were uncooked, there were vegetables on our plates that we specifically requested to NOT have, and our servers were inattentive. However, the food was decent.

Great Service, a tad spendy! – So they have a great menu, excellent variety. Some times a little inconsistant in quality.

Great service, and happy staff!

Mochas are now $450 for 16oz and they don't taste all that good, so Id stick to house coffee!

The Worst Breakfast Ever! – The biscuits and gravy tasted like it was made with cream of mushroom soup in the can. The black beans in huevos rancheros were dry, old, cold little pieces of awfulness. The absolute worst potatoes I've ever had, they were not fresh, flavorless, and ice cold. The place is cute, but unfortunatly we sat with a view of the kitchen where we could see them microwaving most of our meal. What is the point of using "organic ingredients" if your just throwing them in a faulty microwave?

consistently good. – every time i brunch at the c&s, the food is always exactly as ordered, and the wait staff is always conscientious and thorough. even when it's packed, the staff remains cool under fire and the wait itself hasn't ever been as atrocious as many other popular brunch spots in town. also, they're really accommodating for vegetarian and even vegan preferences, and without attitude about it.

Opposite reaction – Okay, so I don't go places at busy times, with a toddler, I really can't- and I had the opposite experience of many posted here. The staff are always nice, helpful, bring small cups and are totally cool about my kid leaving a huge mess, BUT the food is really inconsistent- last time it actually made me sick! It seems that the better chefs are maybe reserved for peak hours? In any case, we love finding little diners that are nice to young ones and also can manage to handle a post concert hangover table but we won't go back.

Rude servers – Although the food was good, I was very put off by the abrupt unfriendly service. I ordered maple syrup, but did not receive and as I tried the ask about it, I was too late for she brusquely whipped around and was gone before I could get one word out. Later, I reviewed the bill, and noticed a "tax" charge in a city and state that has no sales tax! The servers didn't smile and acted like our presence was an imposition. There are too many other decent restaurants for this reviewer to recommend this cafe.
