I am proud of my tattoos from Sea Tramp – This is partly in response to the negative comments below. I have been tattooed by Jeff and Don, and I am very proud to have been tattooed at this shop which is an unsung, yet important piece of tattoo history. I am constantly complimented on my pieces by these gentlemen, and as long as I live I will cherish the experience I had there.
Please try to understand that getting a tattoo is different from going to Burger King or Walmart. Crappy people get crappy tattoos, because they are STUPID and have unrealistic expectations. If you need someone to talk to you and kiss your butt, then see a therapist or emotional counselor. Billy Jack is an amazing artist of the American Traditional style, and I am sickened by the unfounded and COWARDLY attacks in the post below. If I am ever able to get back up there, then I will get a tattoo from him for sure.
They're awesome! – After reading some of these negative reviews, I have to pipe up. I have had 3 tattoos done at Sea Tramp - One done by Jeff Johnson nearly 8 years ago, and two by Billy Jack in the last year and a half. I have NO true complaints about either of them. Jeff was super patient and also a very gentle, and made my first tattoo experience unforgettable. Billy Jack is very quiet at first, but if you can get him talking you'll find he's not so scary after all. Though slow to warm up and obviously not a guy who puts up with a lot of B/S (hello people, have some common sense) he is a great tattoo artist and an honest person as well. I would highly suggest Sea Tramp to those with a laid-back attitude and their fair-share of functional gray matter, but discourage those who don't appreciate that this is, in the end, a business transaction.
verry clean efficant shop – eric is an awesome artist he drew exactly what i asked it was actually better than i expected verry clean shop and verry decently priced
Fantastic Friendly Staff, Fabulous Tattoos, A great place all around! – Not only is Sea Tramp full of friendly helpful tattoo artists they give fabulous tattoos , from the designs to the atmosphere this was a great experience, will be going back there for all my future work, thank you so much Jeff and crew!!!
HIGHLY SKILLED, FANTASTIC ARTWORK, HEALED IN NO TIME AT ALL! – My husband went here first & Jeff Johnson turned his idea into a beautiful tattoo full of shading and such great detail. I was very impressed so I went to see him with ideas from my honeymoon and drawings of how I wanted it to be compiled. He drew out a wonderful scene and got right to work. A friend of mine also went with me and got a tattoo from him that same day. We were there for quite a few hours between the two of us getting our work done and we had a very pleasant time. I just finished my 3rd installment of my honeymoon tattoo and will be going back again a few times till the scene is finished. Jeff is a wonderful artist and is very knowledgeable in his work as well as rest of the Sea Tramp Staff. I highly reccomend this shop for there outstanding work and entertaining conversation. My tattoos have healed in no time and the colors are so bright! I just love the work and will happily continue to give them my business as well as tell all my friends that this is the place to go!!
Great tattoos!!!! – I've gotten a few tattoos so far and trust me they aren't dinky! i heard about it from a friends friend who had gone there and had some great tattoos done by this guy named patrick, he wasn't there so i went to billy. i got some nautical stars, it would have been awsome except for the fact that he can NOT tattoo worth sh*t. it was f*ckin lame and i had to go to the tiger lily to get them f*cking fixed!
very unfriendly, got ripped off – I went to billy jack on a recommendation from a good friend that he was doing good for cheap as he was an apprentice. I went in march of '07 for a consultation. He drew up an idea for me after having me pay him $100 deposit. I signed no paperwork of this, just gave my money. He called me back about three weeks later with the drawing. I liked it and told him I'd call him to set up an appointment. He was very cool up to that point. Fast forward 11 months. Life happened I couldn't get my work done right then. I went back in to see him and talk to him about the drawing again, (this time with money in my pocket to pay for the whole thing.) i was even willing to pay more as he's not an apprentice anymore. When I went in, he had no idea who I was (which is fine since it had been nearly a year) but he was extremely abrasive and rude. He basically told me that there was no way he would have the drawing anymore and to come back later if I wanted to talk to him more. I called him the next night to get my $100 back or at least part of it since he never did any work on me. I was willing to pay him half of that for the work he spent drawing it. But he said that I wasn't getting any of it. In a cheap bargain type of way he offered to re-draw it, but after how rude he was I don't want him near a tattoo of mine (let alone my first sleeve.) i don't recommend billy jack or anyone else at sea tramp. The work my friend has had done from billy jack has actually gotten worse with every tattoo since he started apprenticing. His newest one is pretty horrible.
The parking isn't great, but its worth the trip! : )
OMG! they have the best tattoo artists around, and Don Deaton is world famous & has the funniest stories to tell. His wife is so beautiful!! The artists there can't be compared to any others.
He did it my way – Jeff Johnson made my most recent tattoo--a multiple-layered, many-staged undertaking--perhaps not painless, but a pure pleasure. From start to finish, Johnson took the arcane concept I brought in and developed it to perfection, first creating some drawings to start the visual conversation, then carefully adjusting the image to fit my body and the colors to match the ambiguous palate I struggled to identify with words. The inital outlining phases of the piece took many hours, and Johnson and his cabaret crew of word-slinging, ink-spinning magicians kept me so entertained that I scarcely noticed the needles. What I did notice (and what I appreciate now) is the quality of the work: so meticulous is Mr. Johnson that the piece has needed no touch-ups. Neither border nor color flaked, and the details, shading and coloring are superb.
Sea Tramp Tattoo Company is world class. The facility is spotless; the artists are truly gifted, accommodating, and conversationally engaging--a true and unexpected bonus. I am so pleased with the entire experience that it is certain I will return for more work. If you want quality ink done with care, this is the place to go.
HORRIBLE! – KEVIN is the worst. he butchered my wrists and gave me a tattoo a 4 yr old could draw. im insulted by his lack of professionalism. he should not be tattooing. MIKE V. at tiger lilly fixed them for me and im so thankful. go to him hes great. never in a million yrs let kevin tattoo u. it was traumatising painful and turned out ugly.
