Amazing AND Helpful Artists – I'm currently working on finishing up my first tattoo. Like I said it's my first tattoo and I went for a pretty big back piece for my first! I have had a great first tattoo experience, and have referred several of my friends and co-workers to Icon. I will continue to refer people here as well. I've really enjoyed the work I've gotten so far.
Alena is the artist I've gone to and she's fabulous but, all the other artists seem great as well.
Great Artists and Comfortable Chairs – I see that most tattoo outfits are very competitive, but I had a great experience here. Aaron was my artist, and I was thrilled with the memorial piece that he drew for me and that we have begun. Trusting someone to create a design to commemorate a deceased loved one can be tough, but AAron was very sensitive and knew how important it was for me to get it right.
The design he created for wasn't exactly what I asked for, it was better. My idea was 2D- but Aaron knew how to make it 3D and something really unique and old school all at the same time.
Another artist named Alena was there, and she was working on a rather large back piece, and was extremely open to the client's happiness, modesty and satisfaction- and that piece was VERY unique. It was interesting to hear two artist's bouncing ideas off of each other- two heads are better than one- and it was cooperative, friendly, professional and respectful.
Icon is clean, and is housed in an amazing refurbished building- it was fun to look out the window and see the on ramp to the Hawthorne Bridge-all of the bikes going by.
I have left other shops feeling bullied by the artist, told no too many times, and felt rushed out the door. Nobody at Icon is too cool for school, and that makes them the coolest. The amount of money spent in collecting a tattoo can be large, why spend that money on someone who makes you feel like they are doing you a favor? Spend it here, where they appreciate the fact that you are putting out a good sum of money- and treat you like an important customer.
If you want someone to get it right- Icon is the place- so far I have only been tattooed by Aaron, but I can't wait to collect some art from the other folks who work there as well. I think I want Alena to do some work for me next-
Icon makes me wish I had more blank skin.
Aaron Goodrich left her smiling- ( Its not what it sounds like ) – I had a friend down from Alaska, and she said she wanted an old tattoo touched up. My friend is VERY hard to please, but I knew Aaron Goodrich would be the only guy to do the work. Aaron listened to my friend, explained to her a list of options and colors that would work best with her design, and went to work.
The design that looked like an old smudge came back to life, and Aaron suggested some additions to the background that would make the design stand out better. When my friend left the shop, she was smiling from ear to ear. I have known this woman for 10+ years and I don't think I have ever seen her smile- and never ear to ear. She still is calling me telling me thanks for taking her to AAron-
I have been collecting Aaron's art, on my skin and on my walls, for 6 years now, and he has never disappointed me. If you want that " WOW " tattoo, here is where you go. He'll listen and suggest, and just yesterday I received a compliment on the street about my tattoos: the design and the quality of work.
Be careful who you let tattoo you. I highly suggest you talk to Aaron for your next project. If you have a great mechanic, always take your car there. If you know where a great tattoo artist is- that is where you want to be. Aaron is my great tattoo artist- I highly suggest him and the REALLY nice folks at Icon.
great place for custom work – I saw Melanie and she was wonderful. She mentioned that the owner gives the artists the freedom to spend a great deal of time with clients creating their tattoos. I loved the drawing she came up with for mine, and we spent almost two hours getting it perfect before starting. She was totally not rushed and really concerned with me being happy about the tattoo and placement. She is very creative and calming (as is the shop-for the most part super friendly staff too!).
I would highly recommend Melanie. She' super talented (and sweet)!
