DONT EAT AT DINGO's
food was ok not good not great and took about a half and hour. Service was awful they did not re-fill our waters we had to ask every time. beer list is terrible and when they got around to taking a drink order drinks took about 15 minutes. chips and salsa says it comes with a refill but on one refilled it until we asked. menu is very poorly done. nothing has a description. like veggie burrito. what kind of veggies? does it come with other stuff? nowhere on the menu does it say anything like all burritos come with whatever they come with. It was the only place I have ever been where a bean and cheese burrito has other stuff in it and does not tell you. It had lettuce, pico and corn in it. It was fine but unexpected. sorta strange. and in closing it took over 10 minutes the bill to be picked up after we paid it.
Do NOT eat here. The food is mediocre and the service is terrible.
We first ate at Dingoâ??s when we first moved to Portland in 2007. The service was terrible and we found a rock in our beans so we stopped going. We went a few times lately to give them a chance because they are a neighborhood business. Last night we went there and our 9-month-old daughter was being loud. We gave her a menu to play with to keep her occupied and quiet. Our waiter came up to our table, grabbed the menu and said, â??Donâ??t fold the menu!â?? Yes, to a 9 month old. It was a laminated piece of paper and she barely creased the corner.
A few minutes later our waiter was delivering food to a nearby table. Our daughter was loud again at the same time. He sternly walked over and said, â??She needs to tone it down.â?? He was not friendly about it. We were actively trying to keep her quiet and he showed us zero respect. Sheâ??s 9 months old. If you donâ??t like kids just donâ??t allow them in the restaurant.
We live in the neighborhood and we will never go here again.
Great Burritos – Eat lunch here from time to time. Good cali-mex food and good selection of tequilla. :) Nice atmosphere and friendly staff.
B.S. Portland "Mexican" restaurant – I used to go there all the time with my friend. We would get the Steak Burrito and complementary chips and salsa while we were waiting. Moved out of town and came back a couple of years later. Now they charge for chips and salsa. What kind of self respecting Mexican restaurant charges for chips and salsa??? WTF? I went to order my favorite steak burrito and I was informed that they could not find "free range, organic, grain fed steak" in enough quantity at a low price so they took it off the menu. I was already there so I ordered a ground beef burrito that was comparable to Taco Time, but at $9.00. I'm all about free range, organic, and grain fed, but if you can't get it you take it off the menu entirely? That's when this free range crap goes too far. This place sucks now and the new revised al la carte menu costs you $2 to $3 more that before for the same thing. Dinner at Dingo's? No thanks, I'm going across the street to Por Que No?!
Gone way down hill.... – I've lived in this neighbor hood for 8 years now and have frequented Dingo's a lot during this time. That is over - I'm not going back there again. This place has gone way downhill during my time here. The quality and quantity of the food has suffered as they increasingly embrace cheapness. They now charge an extra 50 cents for to go orders, for what, the bag? Don't they realize to go orders actually save them money - less dishes, less labor, less energy, more availability for other patrons, etc. Now they've stopped giving chips with to go orders as well. If you want to sit outside and have some nice Tequila drinks, it's a great spot. If you want a really good meal, do yourself a favor and walk across the street to Por Que No? The food is way better quality, tastier, more plentiful, and the whole vibe of the place rocks in comparison. With Por Que No? now in the 'hood, and my recent negative experiences, I don't see any reason to ever go back to Dingo's.
FRESH - FUN - FANTASTIC!!! – THE ONLY RESTAURANT WITH LIFE IN THIS NEIGHBORHOOD! Our Garmin took us down this street to avoid traffic on the way home, so we literally stumbled across it with stomach's growling! It was all lit up, filled with lights, HAPPY PEOPLE and an atmosphere that clearly trumped every establishment nearby (and I mean EVERY ESTABLISHMENT, food or not). We quickly learned out why this place was so hoppin'.....SERVICE AMAZING, FOOD AMAZING, ATMOSPHERE AMAZING. The manager Saci was incredible and she explained the menu, drinks and this places basic rule of thumb............FRESH, FRIENDLY AND FUN! Man was she right..............and the best of all...............the bill. I will now venture to the other side of town for fresh Mexican food at an incredibly affordable price. Thank you Saci (pronounced sahchee) and everyone at Dingo's - it made my week! Such a pleasant surprise!
B.S. Ala Carte! – What kind of Mexican food establishement charges for chips and salsa. Are you kidding me? And besides that, what is with paying for every single thing you put in your mouth? Lame. Totally lame. Great food, but completely lame business practices. Used to go there; we won't again.
"Don't take my word for it..." – My friends (Michalm and FeliciaW) and I happened upon Dingo's one night and have not been able to pull ourselves away from it ever since.
This habit is not merely because we enjoy the good food (because, lets be honest, one can find good food at nearly every restaurant). The habit has formed because of a feature we have found to be unique to Dingo's -- Great people!
If you are looking for a restaurant where you will not only enjoy your meal, but enjoy the company you find there (Saci, Nick), try out Dingo's. The nacho's are great, the drinks are outstanding, the people are WARM and INVITING.
The Apple of My Eye – Michalm (below), Daniellekahut, and I go there every Thursday night. As Michal described below, we switched our allegiances from Por Que No to Dingos!
Everything about Dingo's pleases us. This is why we go every Thursday night. We don't just love the service... we love the fact that Saci and Nick are so willing to be out there on the edge with us---they are willing to take the time to relate to us and have conversations with us.
Specifics: margaritas = thirst-quenching; lime sauce = to die for; atmosphere = relaxed; nachos = gigantic!
My New Favorite Place to Eat and Drink Before School – my friends and I started going to Porque No regularly. This is a mexican-ish restaraunt across the street. We were disappointed, however, in the service. One day the line was too long, so we strolled across the street, hungry for some drinks, chips, and salsa. We sat outside and had the most beauiful waitress who served us awesome "lime smothered" burritos.
The next time we went we went on purpose, and had another waiter with a friendly smile. We were given special care and attention.
We immediately fell in love with the place and have made it our favorite place to eat and drink before (and sometimes after) class every Thursday night.
