I visited Montavilla Sewing to get a diagnosis for my vintage Husqvarna sewing machine. Overall I found the repair service helpful and prompt. I would trust Montavilla Sewing more than any other vacuum and sewing machine shop.
The staff is very professional and friendly. They gave great advice to keep up with the maintenance of my sewing machine.
The sewing classes you offered were so much fun and the instructor was very knowledgeable. I just wanted to say thank you for taking the time to better serve your customers.
Very good and knowledgeable staff. I bought a new sewing machine for my daughter and had mines repaired. We love Montavilla sewing!
The staff at Montavilla sewing are so nice. I love talking with them about the products and services. They know so much about sewing. I've told all my girlfriends about this place and they are super excited to go! Thank you guys so much!
dishonest, massive rip off artists – why dont these people care that they are ripping people off and none of thier customers are happy or satisfied in the least? i mean, read the rest of these reviews! any reputable business would be horrified at these reviews! we all know you simply can not please everyone and a few unhappy customers are bound to happen now and then ...but this?! it seems like everyone had just as horrible an exspirence as i did!
i took my little simple white singer sewing machine in because the foot stoped raising with the lever, it felt like it was just jammed. i had that same sewing machine for 10 years with no problems at all, it was a good machine and they told me without even looking into the situation that it would be cheaper for me to "just buy a newer better machine" i told them i couldnt afford that i just wanted a price quote for the fix the guy shook his head took me to some new machines told me they were the most excelent machines he had in low range price and they would be 10 times better than my singer,
he insisted my singer would be about "$250" at least to fix and that i should buy a baby lock because "they were so great" well, he convinced me and i bought one which worked fine twice and then never worked again but because i had it over 6 months there was no more warrenty and i am now broke and have no sewing machine at all!!!! i am so pissed! everyone i have talked to said i should never have believed them but i didnt know better, i thought they were 'experts' but really they are thieves! DO NOT GO TO MONTAVILLA SEWING CENTER if trusting your sales person and machine repair person is important to you at all.
Never going back – My sister and I went to buy new thread and needles, to use on a heavy fabric to make curtains. The service was horrible, the woman who originally "helped" us was rude and curt. We weren't sure what we needed and her blaming it on the thread we had saying it "must be old" ( it was used to make a Halloween costume three weeks ago) didn't help. Obviously we were beneath her level of expertise and she made that abundantly clear. When we went to check out we asked if we had the right things, the cashier said no. So we went to find other thread and needles. Since all five of the needles broke, despite the tension being correct and the machine being recently serviced, somehow I don't think they were indeed "right." I would not recommend it unless you don't need any help and enjoy being treated poorly. The best part is on the drive we were discussing taking classes there, after today I wouldn't go back if they were last sewing place in Portland, which luckily they aren't.
Montavilla IS THE BEST – When I moved out of state, I found this website and called Montavilla...they found what I needed, did an online sales and I had what I ordered in a week! My mom and I have shopped Montavilla for years! When I need anything for my machines I know who to contact. Even being out of state, I wouldn't go anywhere else for the parts that I need. Some how they can find those hard to find parts and not over charge like some companies do.
Awful, terrible customer service, swine, ghoulish sales people. – I bought a $300 machine that I was told was the best in its class, and because of the bobbin, it would never or rarely jam. Jammed the forth day I had it, broke needle, and then machine wouldn't sew. Took it to the store on 82nd, and one of the service guys tried to sell me another machine twice the amount as the current broken machine. He also down-played my machine and contradicted the sales guy from the other sister store. Service manager was a total swine, and refused to replace the machine, blaming it on the store manager's decision. He told me that he would fix it, but that there was a back-log at "his" store and to take it to the store I bought it if I wanted to exchange it for a new one. Terrible customer service. No apology for the inconvenience. Unethical sales people. Rude, disrespectful. Unprofessional. Save your money and go to Target or Wal-Mart at least if your machine breaks you can scoop the pieces up and get a new machine or your money back.
Great service! – Somehow, I managed to lose the thread spindles to my vintage sewing machine... and I have to admit that I was pretty worried. After all, the machine is nearly 40 years old. But Montavilla had me covered. For a mere $2, they replaced the spindles and even carried the sewing machine out to my car for me.
