I am just curious - has anyone ever had fraudulent charges show up on their bank or credit card after purchasing at a video only store?

Don't Buy Your TV at Video Only - Deceptive Sales Practices – Run, Don't Walk from this electronic chain. I purchased a 42-inch TV and wall mount CASH. I purchased an extra wall mount for CASH. The second wall mount didn't fit my TV. I returned it. They informed me they could not give me back my CASH. I asked if there was a sign posted? NO! Was there a note on my receipt? NO. This place is destined to close because consumers will not put up with BS like this -- in a tough economy. Best Buy is across the street from Video Only. Walk there - no run! At least they aren't liars and don't hold onto your money using deceptive practices. I hope Video Only goes under and closes.

Video Only - Clackamas - Unprofessional – I purchased a digital camera at the Clackamas store and it had to be backordered as it was out of stock. I waited 13 days and they said it had not arrived. I asked that they cancel the order and credit my credit card. They refused and said that I had to physically come to the store for a credit to my account. I live over two hours away from their closest store and I said that was not reasonable. If they want to retain customers, such action is not very business like or professional.

You WILL be sorry – They gave me an Opened Box item as new on the TV I purchased from them on Black Friday. They loaded the TV in my car with letting me inspected first. When I complained about it after I found out, they was glad to exchange it for me and pursued me to by a more expensive model.

The next day, I found out a similar TV is on sales for $150 less at the competitor store. The new TV I got was not opened. I went to the store for a price match or a refund on the purchase. They refused to do either. They said I made an exchange and would only give me a store credit. The store manager even hung up the phone on me when I called him. I am now stucked with an Very Expensive TV from Video Only.

They ripped me off by given me an Opened box item and won't allow a refund. I am so sorry I purchased at Video Only. Their price is so expensive. You will be sorry too!!!

Excellent TV at a great price with wonderful service. – I had looked through ads and even scoured online websites for Labor Day sales on electronics. We have been looking to replace our ailing Olevia for a good year. We had looked at Wal-Mart, Fred Meyer, Best Buy, Amazon, Newegg, tiger direct, Sears and other lesser known online sites for television. We had set out to buy a 40" Samsung, or at least a Samsung; perhaps bigger. We noticed that many of the Samsungs on good sales were not that great because they were all 60HZ (slower processor: now outdated). So, as a last minute idea, on the way home, we stepped into Video Only. We saw the Samsung we were looking for (120HZ) and the 42", the 44", and ultimately the 46". What can I say...I like my TV’s good sized. Really, when you are sitting six to ten feet away, 46" is a nice size. We narrowed it down, with the help of Nathan, to the 46" Samsung or Toshiba. Both are well known brands. Both brands are known for being dependable and good quality. The only difference I could see between them was that the Samsung was brighter and the screen had more glare, although not extreme. I would say it was moderate. The Toshiba had a more unofficial matt screen. We planned on placing the television right next to a large bay window, so for us this is a factor. Both televisions had the exact same set of technical features (4 HDMI ports, game mode, programmable setting, 120HZ, LCD). The Toshiba was marked $850, the Samsung was marked $960 I believe. This made the decision difficult only because I had researched the heck out of the Samsung line. I had done no research on the Toshiba and only had its basic reputation to go on. I also did not want to drive home to research it to return in an hour and waste gas and possibly time. The salesman knew we wanted to keep the cost as low as possible, and although he could have possibly earned a higher commission on the Samsung, gently steered us towards the Toshiba (as I said, equal in every way technically). They box looks different in design on both; I will say that. The Samsung screen looks flush with the surround, while the Toshiba is more inset (good for glare issues again).

Anyway, we spoke with Nathan (very nice, patient, and willing to answer my endless list of inane questions), told him we were going to go look at Best Buy again, and get some fresh air to get away from those Plasma TV’s (infrared makes me sick). He said o.k. and let us go, easily. We saw the same Toshiba model 46G300U for less at Best Buy. We returned to see what they would do. Nathan initially offered a price close to BB, but not equal: keeping in mind (I forgot to mention) the VO price includes a 2y. in home warranty. The BB price did not: that said; we hesitated. Nathan talked to the manager and came outside to talk to us as we mulled over the close price with 2y. warranty versus no warranty for slightly less. Nathan directly matched the price we saw at BB, while keeping the 2y. in home warranty. So, if you consider that fact, we technically received the TV for less. A matched price with warranty coupled with in house financing with no interest for 12 months left us returning home, with our new Toshiba sticking out of our bungeed down trunk, very happily.

That same evening I looked up the model number of our television; and wouldn't you know it...it has better reviews than the Samsung. Apparently the larger than 40" Samsungs have known issues with their capacitor. So, overall, I'm glad I did not read the other reviews for VO first, or we would have never had the chance to meet Nathan, and buy a television that we are very happy with. I hope Nathan has the chance to kayak soon.

No Problems Whatsoever – I have been to Video Only on a number of occasions and each time I've gone I've been treated with respect and felt quite comfortable in the store. Like any other store that runs on commission, the sales people are eager to earn your business but they are not pushy or rude in the least bit. I was able to have a civil and informative conversation with the sales people on each one of my many visits to the store. Their prices cannot be beat! That's just a fact. I can only speak from my own experience but I've been quite impressed and satisfied with Video Only. The best way to avoid any negative situations in the store is to be an informed consumer and know what you want and how much you can get it for. Also, it doesn't hurt to fully understand the warranty policies as well.

Like a car dealership – We went to two different Video Only's - Clackamas and Jantzen Beach. We were looking for a 46" 1080p - it had to be under 700. We brought price comparisons, but they still wouldn't beat Best Buy's price. They only had 5 TV's to choose from for our price range. The guy at Clackamas wouldn't leave us alone - he followed us everywhere. The guy at Jantzen beach took us to one TV that was 1299 - nearly twice our price range. He kept trying to tell my boyfriend stuff about TV's that isn't true, and it was just a bore. We went to best buy, bought a different 46" tv - with a little sales pressure, but no other problems.

I would never go back to video only, and their prices suck. They are really irritating and pushy.

BEST PLACE TO BUY!! (BEAVERTON STORE) – As you can tell from the 'con' there really aren't any. I recently had to purchase a new television and I decided to do some homework, some price comparisons, and most importanly, some comparisons on SERVICE.

Well, THANK YOU VIDEO ONLY for Charlene. I walked into the Beaverton store on a Friday evening (late afternoon) and I met Charlene. She was patient, informative, and very friendly. What I liked most is that when she was helping me, it was like she and I were the only people in the store.

I checked out the information she gave me, the deal she wrote up and the suggestions she provided. Everything she said as in line with Consumer reports and most of all, all my 'video expert' friends agreed with the pricing and the suggstions.

I know people love to use this site to judge stores, well, this judgement is EXTREMELY POSITIVE. Thanks Charlene, I have your cards and I will continue to send people to you -- and thank you Video Only (Beverton) for having the "personal feel" that is so important when making a BIG purchase.

Good deals, good selection, and most of all GREAT SERVICE!

Bad experiance – We were looking to buy an HD TV as a gift for Christmas. We did the research and shopped a couple of other places before going to Video Only so we could compare what was still available in the Portland area. We found the TV we wanted at a competitor so went to VO to see if they had the same one. They did so we asked about their price matching and they said it was no problem. Then the sales associate went to the manager to confirm the deal. He came back and said you know we will only make $9.00 on this TV if we sell it to you. How about this other TV which was a larger one and a different manufacture than the one we wanted. We said no the space limitations were such the smaller one was what we needed. He proceeded to tell us why the TV wasn't good and we should take the other one. We politely said no thank and said we would go back to the competitor. As we were leaving the manager started yelling at us from the desk and said we should take the other TV because it was better and that knowledge was everything. We left and I was upset at being called stupid by a young man who was supposed to be the manager on duty. We bought a TV from Best Buy at Jantzen Beach and had excellent customer service. I will not step foot in Video Only ever again and have told my siblings and friends about our very negative experience. I have been in retail management for over 25 years and this was one of the worst examples of poor customer service I have ever observed!
