Nelsons is a GREAT place. Great staff. Always open machines, hottub, sauna, steam room, clean showers, very nice locker rooms. Big list of classes. Best place I've been to in the 20 years in the Portland Metro area.
I noticed, concerning the parking issue, that the city of Milwaukie recently added one street parking spot right outside the gym. Good job Milwaukie!... that area is really short on parking. I'd suggest to the gym that they put a parking vending machine on the lot so that anyone can park if they pay. So little parking in the area and that gym lot is always nearly empty. The parking is going to get worse when the Max rolls in....
Great people no games just good fun and great workout
Nelson's Rocks my Socks - Especially the Management – Some of these reviewers (including those left on CitySearch) need to chill out, especially the dude with the made-up daughter named "Emma," (nice choice by the way, isn't that one of the most popular girls' names in America - I commend your Googling skills). This is an excellent gym. Let me just say that I have been patronizing Nelson's for over two years, and the staff and its manager Tory are kindhearted caring people. Tory would never berate anyone or say something offensive. And you sir, Mr. "Cody," another likely made up name, are just bitter probably because no babes at the gym will give you the time of day. To compare him to Hitler is repulsive, and you should be ashamed of yourself. Look at what happened to Hank Williams Jr... he compared the President to Hitler and is getting a nasty backlash, as you should too, so here I am putting you in your place, you piece of sh*t. I have never once been disappointed in Nelson's services, and I love the gym's ambiance. It's a great place to work out at if you want to stay away from the frat boy/girl places like 24 Hour Fitness and Bally's (gag me with all the shirtless acne-clad, corona-drinking loser men). I love that I can wear whatever the heck I want and get a solid, sweat-laden workout without worrying about pervs eye f*cking me. Also, note that there is always a machine available to use, meaning that I don't have to wait for some bimbo to use the elliptical machine for an entire hour because she ate too many calories that day. This is an awesome, locally-owned gym, and it deserves some respect. Thanks for reading.

Angry Jerk Manager/Owner – I was just harassed and threatened by the angry manager and his meathead entourage today. All because I had the nerve to temporarily park in his empty lot while I ran my groceries into my apartment(car running and literaly 20 yards from my open door). I calmly explained to him what I was doing, and that I was dropping my stuff of and leaving. He pulled out his phone and said he was calling the tow company AND THE POLICE. He was acting very agressive and gave the impression that he was going to physically assault me. As I attempted to pull away from his establishment his goons literally surrounded my car and continued agressively threatening me. All in a nearly empty lot, at 11:30am, on a Tuesday. My girlfriend has been a member there for over 2 years and just walked over and cancelled her membership. Now I have to worry about this guy harassing me whenever I walk out my front door. It's was actually quite comforting to have read the above review and see that I'm not the only person that has had to deal with this jerk.
Bad Neighbor – On a recent Saturday afternoon, I watched as the manager of Nelson's Nautilus had two cars towed from his completely empty parking lot. Downtown Milwaukie is struggling to get a foothold in this economy. This day was the first day I saw an appreciable amount of people actually out enjoying the downtown area. To have this meat head towing cars from his EMPTY parking lot is shameful to say the least. As downtown business owners, we should all be in this together. Towing visitors to downtown Milwaukie just because of some power trip is a disgusting reprehensible act and shows a serious lack of foresight and vision. Low class sir...low class!
