Good for bargain shopping – This is my go-to when the pantry needs stocking. It is totally worth it to me to bag my own groceries when, for example, the spaghetti sauce I use is half what Fred Meyer charges.
The produce turns over so fast that it is usually very fresh. They do not carry any organic produce.
They have an outstanding selection of bulk foods, which are generally fresh and of good quality.
It can be brutally crowded, esp. on the first of the month. Early in the week and early-ish in the morning (8-10 am) usually works for me.
I got a mild case of food poisoning from a sandwich there so I no longer eat at the pizza/sub place.
Tigard Store the worst – I have shopped at other Winco stores for many year's,always happy untill I moved to Tigard and TRIED to shop in that store! If you have to shop between 6am and 7am, forget it. The stockers completly block the way so you could not get down an isle if your life depended on it-usually its the one you need to get to.
Last week I was the only person in the meat department, the janitor stood behind me with the floor machine untill I moved-so I didnt buy any meat. The next day I tried to go back and get the meat I didn't get the day before.THE ENTIRE MEAT SECTION WAS BLOCKED OFF-janitor didn't want to wax the floor in sections. One of the emplyees said they get a lot of complaints.DAH! I will never shop there again.I would rather drive all the way to Gresham...where that would never happen!
Best prices, multicultural shoppers – You can feed your family well here if you shop carefully. The produce department has noticeably improved in the past few years. Legumes price per can equal to that of the 8-packs at Costco. Frozen veggies are often reasonably priced, as are milk and yogurts. Wines are well-priced and the selection is big, with frequent specials.
NO PRICES OVER THE PHONE! – I enjoy shopping at Winco and appreciate their good prices. However, I DO NOT AGREE WITH NOR APPREICATE THEIR "NO PRICES GIVEN OVER THE PHONE" POLICY!!! Come on, Winco, in the day of nearly $4 a gallon gas prices and a national energy crices you need to step up to the plate, rethink your "policy" - eliminate said policy, and do your part as an American business -- TODAY!
Tigard, OR WinCo Foods Parking Lot – The Tigard, OR Winco Foods recently redid its parking lot and I'm almost afraid to go there now! They transformed a good parking lot with one way parking aisles and angled parking spaces into a dangerous nightmare. The parking aisles are now narrow, two-way aisles and the parking spaces are no longer angled. I've seen five or six cars jammed up in these narrow parking aisles without any easy way to get around each another. When you're backing out now you have to watch for cars racing from both directions and, with the non-angled parking spaces, it's hard to tell which cars are starting to back out unless you're almost right behind them. The parking lot refurbishment was definitely poorly done. I'm taking more of my business to other stores with better parking lots now!
