love this place!! – we starting coming about 6 months ago...awesome local bar 5 pool tables great service! everyone is super nice customers and servers... never had a problem getting service from a girl bartender either.... never. dont b a hater.
Not So Good Service – Called ahead to make sure they could handle a group of 20, Only 1 Cook and 1 waitress, Mot a problem we had time.. We all understood. The problem was it took 1hr and 15 mins to get a bowl of Chowder. while others that ordered Burgers I ordered chowder, It was already made....As for the Waitress, She really needs to work on her Customer Service skills...Not friendly at all..
AWESOME FOOD LOTS OF POOL TABLES – CANT WAIT TO RETURN,.FRENCH DIP IS VERY DELICIOUS.
EasytoPlease, really? – EasytoPlease,
Let me point out a few things, since you seem to be lacking the professional knowledge of the industry in question.
A) Bartenders and Managers reserve the right to refuse service to anyone, for any reason... paying or not. You do not need to be a driver to get cut off, further more, if you are driving, you are not restricted from having a drink.
B) Female bartenders are naturally going to get attention from male patrons... its a fact of life. It sounds to me that you were one-upped by someone who retains more ground in the attractive category than you do. Get over it.
Kristen, by and large is an honest and hard working woman, who will continue to be successful and work hard at what she does. Get over yourself, for 10 minutes, and if you are still up a tree about it... find another Bar... there are many filled with intoxicated guys who are looking for someone just like you.
If you are a woman, expect poor service from this lady... – Bartender Kristen apparently will allow men to kiss on her and lie about how much they've had to drink, yet will still serve them all night long. I, a 25-year-old woman, had three glasses of wine, two shots of tequila and one margarita over 4 hours and was told that I was "slurring" my words. I had just witnessed two men (approximately my age) haggle with her over the amount they had already consumed and be served shots regardless. My close friend (who knows this Kristen) told Kristen that she was the driver and that I shouldn't have been cut off. Kristen proceeded to serve the driver but not serve me (the pedestrian) as well as offer drinks to the same drunken men to whom I referred earlier. I love to support my local establishments, but I will never again find myself at the West Union until this abomination of a OLCC card-holder (Kristen) is fired. I will instead relate to all of my many friends that this is a sexist establishment and that all you need to get "faced" there is a johnson and an Irish accent. In response to my upset I have been offered many stories about previous night when an Irish fellow has been served more than 3 persons' share of drinks with no hesitation. Need more info? I have plenty of back-up. DO NOT GO TO WEST UNION AS LONG AS A YOUNG GIRL CONTINUES TO DISCRIMINATE AGAINST WOMEN WHILE YOUNG MEN GET DRUNK BEYOND BELIEF!!!!!!!!!!
Love the food, love the drinks, love the service... – I have been coming to the West Union for years now. The atmosphere is very chill for the most part. Occasionally there are people that get a little out of hand but the staff is very fair and swift to deal with these situations. The food is great, the drinks are even better. The staff is very friendly and do their best on really busy nights to get to everyone. It is a fairly small bar for the amount of people it attracts. Usually two bartenders is all it takes to serve everyone but occasionally they get slammed. There have been a lot of improvements on the bar giving it a more comfortable feeling. I love spending time here whenever I am able to go out.
Hummus anyone? – West Union has been around for a while, and improvements have been made. The bartenders are speedy, goofy and fun. The prices are decent, and the drinks taste great. If you want a place to have a good Kamakaze shot, Joel makes a ROCKIN' good one, and Dezra makes a KILLER martini. Also, the hummus plate, which is DELICIOUS, will fill you up like no hummus plate has ever done before, and at half the price! Karaoke Tuesdays are a lot of fun, as karaoke goes...and that is coming from someone who used to hate karaoke!
One really cool thing is the owner's daughter is always checkin' up on the place, to make sure things are run correctly. I find that reassuring....
There are lots of pool tables, good music choices, and it stays pretty mellow most nights. For a suburban pub, it is definitely a place to check out, and can easily become a comfortable favorite! It did for me!
Fun, easy place to meet your friends. – West Union has been a neighborhood hangout for years. It's a good place to meet your friends, and they mix great drinks. The bartenders are friendly and take care of the customers very well. I've never had a problem here. Occasionally there is the quintessential "drunk guy" that won't shut up or makes a fool out of themselves, but generally I haven't seen any problems. Also, good food-and great burgers!
The West Union is the place to go if you want a low key hangout and some good drinks close to home.
Awful service, trashy crowd – Service here was ridiculous, in a bar full of people there was just 2 bartenders, neither of which were even remotely trying to wait people quickly. We literally stood in line for about 10 minutes just to get our tab, meanwhile 1 of the bartenders thought it was a good time to go have a cigarette break and leave everyone at the counter. Finally get our receipt, and somehow they just never gave us our card back, unfortunately didn't realize until we got home. The other thing, the crowd there was obnoxious and hammered. We saw one guy get arrested for who knows what. My friend thinks she heard some girl doing coke in the bathroom. Just trashy. One more side note, they stop serving pitchers of beer at midnight so even if you stand in line for 10 minutes because they are so slow, and you get up there at 12:01, he'll probably point to the clock and say sorry it's a minute past.
