As others have noted, their hours are a bit frustrating. I stopped by on Saturday (they were closed) and noted from their sign that they were open 9am - 5pm, Mon - Fri. I stopped by at 9:10am on Monday to find them closed. The reviews here suggested they'd be open at 9:30 so I went back around 10 to (finally) find them open.
Anyway, I needed a pair of slacks hemmed and a blazer repaired (rip in the shoulder). Cost for both came to $40. Work was impeccable and done the same day. I experienced none of the rudeness described by the last few reviewers. The lady was clearly of Eastern European descent (she had an accent) and perhaps as a result was somewhat less than chatty, but she was certainly not rude, and apologized several times for not fixing their posted hours.
I'll be utilizing their services in the future.
I took my packpack to get fixed around the zipper. I had gone previously to a couple of other places who said they couldn't or wouldn't fix it. The lady at Hems in a Hurry quite confidently and with a proactive approach said she'd do it. I picked it up the next day and the workmanship was great. She exclaimed-"You'll never have to worry about it again!" and showed me her fine workmanship.
Pretty darn good and fast – Hemmed my extra-long yoga pants toute suite! Yes, cash only, but I would defnitely go there again... and yes, they were done in an hour. Seems like people on these sites only write a review if they have something to b**ch about.
fine establishment if you're not in a hurry – cash only: when you drop off your items you must pay 50% of the total. i took in 2 pairs of jeans that just needed to be shortened - standard hemming - and it cost $30. i thought that was a little steep; i expected to pay around $20, but she was very quick and did a very good job. however, i was told they would be done wednesday at 5pm and i came in at 10am on thursday and had to stand and wait for her to finish the job. my other beef is that their hours are just whenever. the sign says they open at 9am, she says they open at 9:30, i get there at 10am and have to wait 15 minutes for the doors to open. ?! but, again, the work performed was quality. so if you don't mind waiting, this is a reasonable establishment to visit.
i must note in response to other reviewers that 1) $25 sounds very reasonable for all of that work on a jacket especially considering what i paid to have 2 pairs of pants hemmed & 2) if she broke down all of her prices by an hourly wage into minutes, she wouldn't make any money! she's good at what she does and she is fast. what would you suggest you pay to fix a purse? $1.60? that would be $20/hr by the way...
Not so fast – Not sure where the 'hurry' comes in! I dropped off a wool shirt in the a.m. to have a zipper put in and was told it'd be done in 24 hours. When I dropped by the next afternoon, I was told it would be done the following day...long story short, a Tuesday a.m. drop-off was finally done by Friday a.m. Thankfully that wasn't really a problem as I wasn't in a particular rush, but for others who may need things done quickly, I wouldn't recommend this establishment.
sloppy and expensive – i brought in a purse that needed a quick serge around the hem. She charged me $8.00 for a 5 minute fix and did a very sloppy job, So that would average out to $48.00/hr unbelievable!
never go back there again!
Good hems – I went there to get my pants hemmed and they did a very good job and finished it in about 10 minutes. I was charged 10.00. The only issue I had was that the lady working wasn't very friendly and they didn't take debit cards, only cash.
Quite useless – I went to Hems in a Hurry to get a jacket fixed. The jacket had frayed linings and holes in its pockets. I was charged 25 dollars to get everything fixed and on a Monday I was told it would be done by Thursday. I came in on Friday to find that nothing had been done. The lady tried to get me to stay and wait for her to do it right then and there, she said 15 minutes. I couldn't stay as I had to go to work and the next day I was leaving town and needed my jacket. I was very disappointed and also miffed as I was apparently charged 25 dollars for 15 minutes of work. When I did pick up my jacket two weeks later, it was patched up pretty well, except the pocket holes were still not fixed. When I asked her to fix them, she said, well, this seems more work than for 20 dollars. I replied that I was charged 25 and that the jacket was late, after which she proceeded to take a minute to sew up the pockets right there. The attitude was off throughout this transaction, and it didn't seem like the people running the place really cared about my business. Definitely never going back there again.
Very high-quality clothing repair. – I have used this service for about 3 years. Mostly, it is to have hems put in new pants. They have also done some truly outstanding work on reparing very expensive lambswool sweaters, repairing moth holes ,and installing suede elbow patches. The work is completely and thoroughly professional, and I can find no flaw in it.
