The food portions are huge and the price is fair for what you get. We've always enjoyed everything we've ordered here. My parents became regulars because they enjoyed the food so much. Its nicely remodeled inside. We go here when we want Italian several steps up from the fast food Italian of an Olive Garden type restaurant. I doubt anyone would walk out of this restaurant hungry or disappointed.
Best All around in the Burg – life long customer, and current employee... I have worked in the food service industry for over 30 years, and have never worked for a more dedicated and caring
owner and management staff... through the years, i have seen them bend over backwards to accommodate the special needs of many of their employees... Male or female, black white green or purple. It's a shame that someone is able to make such a reckless statement as the reviewer from 2/12.
I am proud to be part of the armstrong's family of employees, and will continue to work hard to maintain the benchmark of standards set in place by the owners.
We will continue to make Armstrong's Pittsbugh's # 1 destination of choice, by serving the finest and freshest
ingredients, and by providing friendly and attentive service... to anyone who hasn't eaten at an armstrong's
you don't know what your missing... hope to see you soon...
The best food and value in the burg – Please let me start by saying that I've been a customer of Armstrong's for 25 years and an employee of Armstrong's for 20 years. I have never worked in a cleaner, well maintained, well managed establishment. The food is absolutely the freshest and consistently delicious, I feel this way after 25 years of eating here, (sometimes 5 days a week). The owners are by far the most considerate, respectful, and amazing hands on owner/managers and I feel privileged to work with them. They are diligent about consistency, cleanliness, courtesy, and customer satisfaction. They are extremely kind and generous to their employees and customers, and will continue to be a success regardless of the slanderous, outlandish and undeserving accusations of a bitter x-employee who couldn't live up to Armstrong's standards.
Great Waitress – I was just there for dinner and I mistakenly gave the waitress $20.00 to much and told her to keep the change. As we were ready to leave she approached us and returned the $20.00 saying she was sure we had made a mistake. I appreciated this honesty and will remember this when I go to this restaurant. The service and food were great.
avoid weekwends and fish – i go to Armstongs often...It is actually my favorite restaurant in the area. BUT , their fish is awful I just found out tonight. I always get the Caprice salad with chicken. It is big enough for 2 people and WONDERFUL. Just never order shrimp instead of fish for you meal.... I went hungry tonight.
Great place! – Aramstrong's is one of the best restaurants in the area. The food is quality and you get what you pay for. It is very much a family atmosphere. The menu selection is great. Sometimes the wait can be tough but what do you expect if you go on a weekend night right at dinner time. It is much better now that it is remodeled. Armstrongs will continue to get my patronage and my recommendation for people looking for a great, fairly inexpensive place to eat.
When yinzers want bland food.... – Purports to be Italian food, but fails miserably. On the upshot, you get a mountain of food, so the fatties will just adore this place. The "homemade" sauce is worse than what comes out of a jar--it's like they took some Prego and added a pound of salt. The iced tea I ordered tastes like it was made with water that was collected from a puddle in the parking lot.
I just don't understand why this place is busy so much. The only appeal I can see is that this is just a dressed-up Eat 'n' Park. This is where you go to celebrate after you earn that associates degree from the local community college.
NOTE: I saw TWO men wearing white cowboy boots in this establishment. I don't know what it means but it can't be good.
OK For lunch – Average in every way. Service is fairly prompt, food is standard american style. Prices are average. Interior is clean but nothing special.
The restaurant tends to be very popular for lunch, and hence very busy.
Few places have larger portions than this feed bag. – The Scene
Both locations are always busy, with families out for a good-value meal. There are often sizable waits, especially at peak hours on weekends.
Pasta dishes and salads are huge, and the order of lasagna is about the size of a briefcase. It's well-prepared and service, once you get seated, is amazingly good for the turnover.
Management simply believes that people should get what they pay for, and they strive to live out their beliefs. I only wish I had the concession for the doggie bags that go flying out.
