After 3 application (the first 2 which were repeated) and a yard full of weeds & crabgrass I have cancelled my applications. Their customer service is absolutely horrible, they refuse to return any of my phone calls, answer any of my letters or respond to the comment card that was included in my billing. It was quite obvious by the markings in my grass that they only made one large circle around my house and did not treat the entire yard. I would never ever ever recommend Kapps to anyone!
In 2012, I prepaid for (6)lawn treatments. I did not sign a contract. I only received (5)treatments.
A large portion of my lawn died over the winter. On 3/12/2013, Kapp's applied a spring application which they are charging me $2.35.
We had to till and seed the dead portion of our lawn. The lawn was tilled but not seeded when Kapp's came and applied another treatment on 4/16/2013. I had to wait two additional weeks to seed.
They are billing me $2.35 for the 3/12/13 treatment and $35.52 for the 4/16/2013 treatment. I did not authorize any treatments in 2013. I did not sign a contract. I prepaid in 2012 but did not receive the six treatments I paid for. They performed additional services without my permission.
I have tried to resolve the issue with Kapp's.
Kapp's in Oakdale has been great. I found weeds in my yard because of all the rain. We called Kapp's & 2 days later they came out & took care of them at no charge to me. I'd call that good svc.
lawn looks great – With all this rain and the service from Kapps my lawn is lookin' great! Highly recommend them.
Glad I use Kapps. – I was checking out all of the companies I use at our home - and came across the reviews here for Kapps. I use the office in Oakdale and have had no problem at all with them. Girls from the office always call before the technician comes out. My tech always blows off the driveway for me. They even came out and re-treated for some weeds once last year for free for me. For what it's worth, I've been using them for 5 summers now and think they give all around great service.
Buyer Beware! – The address of the billing office is in Oakdale, PA. The only reason I selected the rating of 1 star is because there are no minus scores. This company is bad news. I wish I had read the reviews before I signed up for their services. Living on a budget I had to make certain cuts and Kapp's Lawn Specialists were one to drop. Service had been less than satisfactory last year so I called to cancel this year's service (2010) after getting the "heads up" call from a guy named Chris, saying they would be there the next day. This was standard procedure for the past few years. One year they used the wrong chemicals and killed a beautiful rose bush. Rather than replace the rose bush I was offered an "iron treatment". I wanted to work with them so I accepted that. I saw no difference in my yard prior to or after the "iron treatment". I bought a new rose bush at the end of the season and planted it. When I called to say I couldn't afford their services for 2010, I was offered a special contract of four treatments at $29.00 each and I could cancel if I found that a financial burden. I did and called to cancel the services. They came again to treat the lawn AFTER I canceled it and this time there was no customary phone call informing of the next day's visit. They denied my cancellation call! With the tenacity of a Pit Bull the office manager was not willing to work with me. I could see they weren't going to meet me half way so I agreed to pay for that service and told them to stop coming. I was angry and said I "OK, I'll pay you, but it will be a dollar a month." The Pit Bull agreed and said she would mark my file. One month later, I get a letter from a collection agency for $34.95. I wonder if there are other victims like myself who should get together to discuss legal recourse about the staff at this location. What they are doing seems illegal, sinister, calculated, pre-meditated, and devious. No one else should have to experience what we have.
Deception and poor service AKA Kapp's Lawn Specialists – If you want careless, sloppy lawn services where you don't agree for applications and they show up when your'e not there and damage your yard and driveway by doing things in the pouring rain, then Kapps is for you. I was led to believe they were a locally owned and operated business. Nah, the corporate office is in Fort Wayne, Indiana. They only hire rude, uncaring employees who essentially call you a liar when you say you never authorized a treatment or whatever. I should have googled Kapps first and would not have a mess of a yard now after aeration done, no permission, no one home, and done in pouring rain with mud and dirt everywhere; mulch, patio and driveway. Research any lawn services first, I learned my lesson with these incompetent, sneaky so-called "lawn specialists".
idiots for customers – oh how easy it is to jump on the negative wagon..
i do not agree with prior reviews. listen people, if you want to be called first prior to application, call them and tell them, leave a note for your technician. ive done this and they must talk to me every time prior to application or else i dont pay.
this past winter was rough and any competitive company would love to try to put the blame on another company to gain a customer. how stupid can you be? how much snow did we get? how long was it on the ground for? there is absolutely no fertilizer in the world that could of helped us out this year. all you can ask for is for them to put down some extra nitrogen early on this spring to bounce back your lawn. you people should really do your due dilligence instead of being irrogant to the fact, fungus, especially pink mold spots will develop anywhere there was a significant amount of snow. so before complaining about something you obviously do not know about, do your research and get your facts straight.
as for cancelling, isnt it always good to do it with a formal letter going certified mail, or maybe getting a confirmation number over the phone? im not just talking lawn service but in all services in general? im just suggesting...
Bad customer service and a scam – I agree completely with the two reviews down below. They did a winterizer application on my lawn and after winter, my lawn was completely hosed. I got another local lawn company to take a look at it and the first thing they said without even knowing about a winterizer application is that "Seems like a bad winterizer application". My grass was matted, wilted and had fungus all over it. Then they come out and put a fertilizer application on my lawn without I even authorizing it. When I called them, the rep "Terri" was being rude and repeatedly told me that I have to pay for that application even when I did not authorize it and neither did they give me any heads up on them coming to perform an application. I called back again and this time "Jennifer" answered the call and she told me that she heard our conversation and that Terri was not being rude at all and I told them that I will be giving them a very bad review online and she did not even care.
These guys need to realize that their business is as good as a happy customer. Instead of suggesting ways to correct the problem and giving a customer the assurance of a good service, they just care for the money. I am not paying them for this application and I am warning everyone to stay away from this place.
Do not even think to use this company to treat your lawn – We sold our home in November. The following spring they did an application to the lawn and left a bill. The current owners called and told them this service was not authorized and not wanted. None-the-less, they returned for a second treatment a month later. They sent us the bill for both treatments, and we called first the current owners and then them to tell them they were never authorized to service the lawn. We said we would not pay. In a few months they sent another bill with the promise they would forward the bill to a collection agency. We sent a registered letter to tell them this servicing was their mistake. We just got a letter from a collection agency. This is a wonderful form of extortion. We will not pay. From the earlier review, it is evident this is deliberate and is their way of doing business.
