Made our house a Home – This company, Young's Tile, recently completed its second job for us. The exquisite craftsmanship, the artistic style, the outstanding attention to detail and especially the caring, attentive and beyond excellently superb service are just a few of the many adjectives in an attempt to describe the miraculous metamorphosis of a house we purchased over four years ago with the intent to reconstruct and remodel into a home to raise our six children

It was due to the extraordinary service by Young's Tile that turned that house, finally, into a home, a home for all eight of us to enjoy and create memories for a lifetime. For this, we give our grateful and warm thanks and reference to all to experience the privilege we experienced all due in very much part to Mr. Young and his dedicated group of professionals craftsman.

This rating scale only goes up to five stars. Given that fact, we therefore rate this company at six stars.

Installers – Our experience with Young's tile was wonderful. Miles has been doing our tile work in Sewickley for many years. We have recommended him many times.

Good Customer Service. Do not use this installer. – Hired a tile installer based on the recommendation of one of their designers. Young's Tile, owned by Miles Young, was one of the worst experiences ever dealing with a contractor. Accent on Tile did everything I would expect them to to assist with this situation. Contractor failed to show on day set to start & did not call. When tracked down provided a new start date. Crew showed on agree date. Crew was to install tile on kitchen fireplace, which included a "carpet design" in the center. Miles attempted to change the design of the "carpet" by saying it was too complicated to execute. After a heated exchange he left his crew to finish the discussion. We agreed on a compromise design and the crew proceeded to install the center design. The installed center design was way off-center& was noticiable well before the crew was finished. The problem, brought to attention of crew resulted in a shrug of the shoulders and a cigarette break. Crew returned & continued to set tile despite being told that job was unsatisfactory. Owner showed up. I overheard crew telling Miles that design was off-center and that customer was dissatisfied. Miles returned, looked at design & left. Being Friday, 4PM he & crew cleaned up & proceeded to leave w/o a word about the off-center design. A message was left with Miles the following day informing him of my dissatisfaction with the work of his crew and requesting he call to discuss. 3 days went by w/o contact from Miles. I sought the opinion of 2 other tile installers who both described the work as unprofessional & lazy. On 3rd day I contacted him to confirmed he received my message. He confirmed that he did but attempted to shrug it off saying they would look at it when they returned to finish the grouting, but might not be able to do anything if insufficient tiles to make the correction. He was advised that he would have to purchase additional tiles at his expense to make the corrections. Miles did not ackowledge that there was any problem or that he would take responsibility for his crew's poor work. He said he would have a crew at the house that same afternoon. Crew failed to show. Over the next 2 weeks Miles provided one excuse after another for why a crew was unavailable to return to fix the problem & finish the project. After 3 weeks I requested Accent on Tile intercede. Over a 4 day period they contacted Miles each day instructing him to make contact with me to discuss the problem & what he intended to do about it. On the 4th day Miles called and simple said he would have a crew out the following week. I confronted him with whether he was taking responsibility for the problem with the installation. Again he said he would look at it when they came the next week. Frustrated with more of the same from this contractor & his failure to take responsibility for the problem I informed him that I had no confidence in his ability to correct the problem, no confidence he would take ownership & no confidence he would show as promised. I informed him his services were no longer needed & requested a refund against the work he failed to complete. A complaint was also filed with the BBB. A 2nd contractor was hired to finish the project. His opinion was that there was no reason why the original installer could not have installed the "carpet" as it was designed and that it would have resulted in a much better outcome. He also pointed out several other areas where Miles' crew took shortcuts. He also described the work as lazy. There is much more to say than this space allows.

Good Variety but Poor customer service – On my first visit to Accent on Tile (weekday/noon-ish), there was one person working the floor. She was busy with another customer, but looked directly at me several times during my 15-20 wait without even acknowledging my presence or indicating she would be with me shortly. I was patient and polite, however, until another sales person arrived (Dan) who was EXTREMELY friendly and helpful. Towards the end of my discussions with Dan, the other lady approached us and literally just stood there looking at me while I was talking, as if she was waiting on me to hurry up and finish my business so she could talk to him. Needless to say, she came off as rude, but I had hoped my impression was wrong.

On my second visit (weekday/noon-ish), the same lady from before was there to assist to us after a 10 minute wait. To put it mildly, she seemed very disinterested in helping us. She simply had an unpleasant personality. We weren't spending very much...only about $125 for some deco pieces, but I don't think that's an excuse.

She tried calling the tile company to place our order, but they didn't answer. We were worried about the timing of receiving the tile, but she assured us she would try to call again and call us that day to let us know. She didn't call. When I tried to call the next day to find out if the order had been placed or not, the person who answered the phone was not helpful. After some mild pressure was applied, she said she would find out if the order was placed and call me back. She didn't call either!! Finally I called myself and found out the order had been placed - I still don't understand why I never received a phone call.

In summary, they have great pieces, LOTS of variety (more than I've seen elsewhere in Pgh), but I was NOT IMPRESSED with their customer service at all. I would look else where before giving them your business.
