If you know food, don't bother. – Underwhelming to say the least. Perhaps it's the new ownership; it feels like the kids are running the store. The food was passable: my profiteroles (Gruyère Puffs with Chilled Lump Crab & Crème Fraîche were a gluey mix with no discernable flavors, the sliced Bosc Pear on Mixed Field Greens was drenched in its dressing, the Cassoulet was fine as was my Choucroute Garnie, but neither were excellent; a good cook could achieve both at home. Which is exactly why our meal was hardly worth the trouble--only the poached pear was worth the trip. The service was also less than inviting. After our waitress told us that the restaurant was out of paté--apparently 8:00 pm is their final seating--she listed the appetizer special, which I took. Unfortunately, she didn't understand that the steak tar-tar had also ran out or never been offered. Needless to say, we will not return.

Modern French cuisine has a handsome home along a bustling portion of the South Side. – In Short
While Le Pommier is housed on East Carson Street, one of the busiest and noisiest in the city, all is tranquil inside the restaurant. Decorated in French-country style, its rooms are soft and warm. Menus are seasonal--expect dishes like beet risotto garnished with sauteed sea scallops. Memorable desserts may include traditional profiteroles au chocolat, cream puffs filled with French vanilla ice cream and dark-chocolate sauce.

tasty morsels – All I have to say is that if you would like to dine someplace and you're willing to PAY for the food THIS IS THE PLACE! I have never been dissapointed with anything I have every ordered at this restaurant. The soft warm glow of the dining room is a very nice change of pace from the city outside. Everyone is professional without being cold. The food is better than Le Mont, I'd say. It's cheaper (not by much) and for certain it's just a more honest dining experience. I love it! It's very special. If you have a larger party, try for a private room.

Apple of the eye of Pittsburgh! – Now, this is a restaurant! Warm, charming, romantic and quiet place, even though it was totally full on a Thursday night in mid October. Frendly, professioinal service staff works together and was helpful in making menu selections, etc. Beautiful menu and wonderful food. Bleu cheese and pear salad, cheese and paté plate and wonderful warm, crisp baguette and olives. Nice touch!

Entrées of smoked pork chop and apples, grilled trout stuffed with grapes and walnuts. Desserts of apple crepes and creme brulée accompanied with rich French coffee.

Good and reasonably priced wine list. Our choice was Hacienda merlot; luscious with the meal. Great music too added to warm atmosphere.

Again, compliments to the servers!

ooh la la! – I took a client here for dinner last week and was so impressed! It was a lovely dining room (very homey), the service was excellent, and the food was divine. We shared a tarte du jour for an appetizer that was so custardy and light and delicious, then I had a peach & almond salad with pot wine creme fraiche (amazing), and the duck dish with duck-cherry sausage (the sausage was wonderful, the duck was good, but nothing especially outstanding). For dessert we ordered both the mango crepes (wow!) and the chocolate creme caramel (good, but couldn't compete with the crepes). They have an excellent wine list, as well. All around a very nice dining experience.
