More beer from more countries than you can name in 20 seconds. – The Beer
The Sharp Edge is ground zero for fans of good beer in Pittsburgh. Fifty taps pour an amazing variety of beers; 21 are from Belgium, eight are nitrogenated and the remainder are from a revolving roster of imports and microbrews. The Sharp Edge also introduces a new cask-conditioned beer every Wednesday at 6pm. And this doesn't include the ever-changing draft of "Mystery Beer" and the hundreds of bottled beers from around the world. While successfully sampling all the drafts may seem impossible due to laws of time, biology and economics, the Sharp Edge makes it easy by providing reasonably priced, five-glass tastings.
The decor's woodwork and shag-like carpet, reminiscent of an early '70s Italian restaurant, adds a feeling of honesty to every visit. A room adjacent to the bar is filled nightly with guests dining on family-style entrees and award-winning pizza, and the Pub Room hums with conversation and electronic dart machines.
great beer mediocre food – the beer selection is beyond belief especially the belgians. All are fresh, poured inthe correct glassware and the sampler for 12bucks is a great way to start.
The food, on the other hand is not so great. Ordered an abbey burger with alebraised onions and their belgian frites. Burger was cold and the frties were limp sioggy and cold.
the other downside is that apparently everyone still smokes in pittsburgh whic hmakes it tough to stay there long
No frat boys and coors light here – I guarentee that every person who dislikes this bar is somebody who goes in expecting a coors light and upset because they have DogfishHead 90minIPA on tap, but not IC Light.
These people do not belong at the Edge. It is a great bar, with great beer and great food for those who are into that. Sorry if it cant be converted to your usual crap dive with choice of coors, bud and yuengling. It is for the exotic.
Awesome Place – If you want to have regular beer from the big brewers, ship this place. If you want great beers from all over the world and the best US micros and craft brewers, you're in the right place. There are brews here that you never could imagine having access to in the US or a town the size of Pittsburgh. The staaf is great and the pizza is out of this world. The rest of the food is good also. This is a great place to relax and kick back. Kristy the bartender or Saturday is great.
