Avoid at all cost! organ meat and dirty old cold rags – Worst meal ever! I ordered what they called on the menu twin fillets. I ordered rare they came out medium, I sent them back they came out medium again, the third time it came out rare but tasted like organ meat. The server said they always have problems with the fillets and that the meat, between her and I, wink wink, was a bad grade like the stuff they serve in prisons. Another guest ordered what was supposed to be pasta with alfredo sauce, It wasn't even close, broken sauce with over cooked pasta. Another guest ordered what was called cowboy tips, it turned out to be another plate of organ meat. The server told us the cowboy tips were the scraps of the twin fillets. The server asked if we would want dessert on her. We did and it was by far the worst dessert ever, it tasted like a dirty old cold rag. The server said don't worry about the bill she would throw it out because the owner really could care less

Great dessert, great music, great food – I discovered Gullifty's a couple of months ago, and I can't get enough. I love their chicken alfredo and their salads are HUGE. Every Wednesday, they have a jazz and blues jam session with their house band and anyone who would like to can come up and play their instrument or sing. The band is all right, but some of the locals who show up to play are amazing. On Fridays, they have a larger band play and it's different every week I've been. It's ALWAYS good.

Every time I've gone in recently, the (very pregnant) manager has stopped by our table to see how things are and to chat. We were celebrating a birthday a few weeks ago, and she gave us a coupon for a free dessert and some crayons for our daughter. We hope she's coming back after her pregnancy, because she does a good job at making us feel well taken care of.

Their barbecue is great, as well. Try the pulled pork platter. Their cornbread is the best I've ever had.

Their dessert menu is huge. It has to have at least 20 different things on their. I love the french strawberry, and my husband loves the 5th dimension cake. You get to watch the dessert chef cut and arrange them on the plates. We have tried almost everything and we haven't found one we don't love.

Some good, more bad – Went for a Thursday late lunch. On the plus side, the French onion soup was delicious, full of warm, delicious cheese and tasty onions. And of course, the dessert was up to par with what would be expected, albeit quite pricey ($5 for a small sliver).

The negatives, however, outweighed the positives. The service was lackluster; our server did not once check back to see how we liked the food, or to refill our drinks, during the entire service. The turkey sandwich was underwhelming--it tasted more like a McDonalds chicken patty. And, there was a hair in the steak and potato salad. If the server had actually come around, we would've been able to alert them to this.

All in all, we paid $44 for a disappointing lunch for three. Pass up Gullifty's except for delicious (if overpriced) dessert.

Best Desserts! – Gullifty's offers great food at great prices. Start with the matzoh ball soup or the artichoke spinach dip, and then try the meshuggnah or the potato pancakes. Believe it or not, they also have great chimichangas and pasta, and you can't beat the frnch onion soup. Leave room for dessert-my favorites are the chocolate intemperance or the french strawberry pie.

Best jazz venue and best bbq – I was new to town when a friend ask me to go hear world renowned guitarist Larry Coryell play in this small restaurant, in all places SQ Hill..... We had a fantastic night of great music, cold beer and killin' bbq. Highly recomended for jazz lovers and cool people looking for a dark room with great music and cool drinks. We are there 2-3 days a week now just to hang. Very cool looking wait staff and the manager treats us like his best friends.

decent desserts, good music – Have been there 3-4 times to hear local jazz and found it to be a great experience. I have heard Kenny Blake, Don Aliquo and Jimmy Ponder there, some of the best talent around. Service is good. Desserts are good but a bit overrated. Great place for live music!

Has Gone Downhill – Back in the 80's Gullifty's was a breath of fresh air in Squirrel Hill, offering decent, fresh, family-friendly entrees and fantastic desserts at very reasonable prices. But now it's fallen way down in quality and even old menu items have been tampered with (probably to be cheaper to make) in such a way that they just don't taste good. It's very much like college cafeteria food, --greasy, salty and blah. The restaurant isn't that clean either, the bright 80's decor has faded, and even the desserts aren't what they used to be. So sad. For a place more like what Gullifty's used to be, maybe try the Square Cafe in Regent's Square.

Pittsburgh's best desserts? – Why, oh why did I want takeout dessert from an uninviting display, ordered in a smoky bar? Gullifty's is the place to go for dessert in Pittsburgh? The quality couldn't make up for the fact that I had to wash my clothes when I got home. Next time I'll make my own. I won't bother to try the food, there is a requisite pass by the bar to the restaurant.

My wife and I came to Pittsburgh from California and found Gullifity's through CitySearch. We loved it. Gotta have the 5th Dimension! Food and service were great.

FANTASTIC DESSERTS, LIVE JAZZ, EXCELLENT BBQ – My wife and I have been going to Gullifty's for at least ten years, sunce our undergrad days at Pitt. We love the desserts - the key lime pie. We almost always get the key lime pie and another dessert so we can have our favorite and try another. Great desserts.

We love this place and now they have live jazz - reminds me of the balcony in it's day.
