Formally known as the Fulton Theater, the Cultural Trust has helped return it to its former glory..
The Scene
Enter under the flashy marquee into the spacious lobby, itself bigger than some buildings, and buy a ticket for a cultural event--it could be anything from a dance performance by Stomp to an intimate evening with folk singer/songwriter Richard Thompson. Step into the theater with its high ceiling and ornate, rococo decorations adorning the walls. When the curtain goes up, you'll experience a clear view of the stage and hear every word and whisper onstage, thanks to a state-of-the-art sound system.
The Skinny
The Cultural Trust itself programs a series of on-the-edge performances each year in the theater, but it's also used for many other events as well. One of the most convenient things about the Byham is the availability of unlimited parking right across the street, and the block of restaurants and bistros along Sixth Street that you can visit for a bite before or after a performance.
