The host to the most! – Stop hatin'. The Harrington is a family that cares! Ena is awesome and Tee, well, she is the matriarch for many misplaced people. Great food and a legacy well beyond all food reviews. Not a franchise but real people. I want a job there but I gotta go to Mexico!
Be careful going here- lots of blacks – This place sucked. You had to walk by countless blacks to get there. The waiter I had was some young punk kid who kept walking by people, farting by them, then laughing and high fiving the bartender. What kind of establishment does this? He thought no one knew what he was doing, but I saw it and one other couple noticed it. If he had done that to me I'd of cracked him in the mouth
Worth the wait! – Great grill restaurant in the heart of Bloomfield!
Excellent steak and burgers... The burgers are rather large!
Great bbq ribs, but only served on Thursday night.
I used to frequent this place when I lived in the city.
Owner is very friendly. Hostess (I believe the wife of the owner/ co-owner) didn't take my name, but rather the fact that I had curly hair.. I thought that was interesting.
Never been treated so poorly – I went with three friends to eat at Tessaro's on a rainy Saturday evening. I dropped them off while I parked the car. The hostess sat them and when she found out I was parking the car, she told them literally to "GET UP." She said they wouldn't seat them because I wasn't there. By that time I had arrived at the table my friends were still in shock by the utter rudeness. Tessaro's was a Pittsburgh institution that my family had frequented for years. Our treatment is a disgrace to its reputation
great burgers – best wood fired grilled burgers and steaks
Not worth the hype... – After searching Pittsburgh for a decent hamburger, I kept getting recommendation for Tessaro's from friends and from internet searches.
I dined alone, early afternoon, when they were not busy. I got attitude when saying I was by myself. I was seated at a cramped table, and everything looked dirty.
I ordered a burger, cooked medium, with cheese and some condiments. Since they don't have a fryer, I ordered some of their potatoes, which are cooked on the grill with onions, peppers and spices.
The burger came out well done. Grrr. If there is ONE THING that upsets me the most when ordering any meat, it is if you ask me how I would like it cooked, and don't bring it to me that way! The bun was nearly impenetrable by my teeth, causing the insides of the sandwich to come spurting out the back end. The meat was dry and flavorless - utterly tasteless. The lettuce was wilted, and the tomato was also flavorless. The ketchup bottle on the table was disgustingly filthy, so much so that I didn't use it. I am not averse to dirt or funkiness, but it was truly gross.
The potatoes had been on the grill so long they were nothing but a gelatinous, gooey, greasy mess. I only took one bite.
NOT ONCE did the waiter ask if I was satisfied or needed a refill on my drink or anything.
I did not leave a tip.
There are MUCH BETTER places that this place to get a good burger in Pittsburgh. Try Atria's (the original place in Mt. Lebanon), or Molly O'Grady's, also in Mt. Lebanon. Both serve burgers WAY BETTER than Tessaro's.
Great Hamburgers, but I love their chicken sandwich – The smell of the food cooking keeps you coming back. Excellent!
decent burger place – this place does not beat fat heads in the south side as far as burgers are concerned. fat head still serves the tastiest burgers in town!
The best burger I've ever had – Period. One of the few places in Pittsburgh where you don't have to worry much about bratty kids as there are no high-chairs or kids menus....refreshing.
The best Hamburgers in the history of the world!!! Bar None!!! – This place has the best hamburgers in the world. I have lived in several different countries and a couple different cities in the USA and Tessaro's is the best hamburger that I have ever eaten. My personal favorite is a medium-well Dry Blue Cheeseburger. Just don't get the burger well done, most of my friends from Asia order everything well done for safety reasons. At Tessaro's, they cook the burgers on a chargrill and well done burgers are usually dry. Stick to a medium-well burger and you will be rewarded with the best tasting burger ever. I even take new students from Yale to Tessaro's and every since person agrees that it is definitely better than the hamburger at Louis' Lunch.
