Skip the rest of the menu & just order the #19. I promise, you'll thank me later as it really is some of the best pastrami you'll ever taste!
This old school deli has a large menu of breakfast and lunch options yet the signs in the restaurant will steer you to their world famous, #19 hot pastrami sandwich. Piled high with meat & Russian dressing, you certainly won't leave hungry
#19 is what you need to get. Pastrami on rye with coleslaw. The slaw compliments the salty pastrami perfectly.
Order the number 19. It's all you'll need. Thin-ish slices of pastrami with cheese and cold slaw, all on rye bread that is perfectly toasted. The best deli sandwich in LA. Period.
Great Pastrami Sandwiches – Yum! Although this restaurant is in a sketchy area and you have to park a block away, this sandwich is really worth the trip.
Oh yes, it's real good! – This is a true New York Style deli minutes from downtown LA and just off of Wilshire. I had the Pastrami on Rye and some Matzah Ball Soup. Everything was excellent, including the service. The Pastrami was melt in your mouth tender and had great flavor. The atmosphere is just what you would expect at this type of place, casual and not pretentious. I highly recommend Langer's and will be back soon!
Hands down best pastrami! – Man...everytime I come here, I overdo it. I once almost ate two orders of their pastramis in a sitting. Really it's that good! I just wished they'd open later because the only time I get to go here is on weekends.
The #19 is the best sandwich I've EVER eaten – Langers is amazing. I've only been there once a week ago, but I've been thinking about it every day. The #19 is the best sandwich anywhere period. I'm not even a huge pastrami fan, but this sandwich got me hooked.
The service was great, got lots of refills, the crowd was great (mostly business people and old people talking about politics), and there is a parking lot!
Next time I'm in LA, Langers will be the first stop on my list.
This classic Jewish deli belongs in Lower Manhattan – WOW - this place is a one-of-a-kind institution for Los Angeles. Complete with all the food, atmosphere, and service you would expect from the classic Jewish delis in New York City. I went with three friends and we all, not unwisely, ordered the number 19 - pastrami on rye with coleslaw and russian dressing. SO good. Heaping portions of cured pastrami exploding with flavor on soft, warm rye bread topped with crisp coleslaw in creamy, yummy dressing. Our waitress, a 50 something old-timer named Joan, took care of us in that Jewish mother sort of way. Sort of grumpy and cynical - but lovable and comical just the same. If you can, save room for dessert, but remember they aren't open past three and are closed most holidays. Park in a nearby lot and validate, the somewhat seedy area does no justice to the culinary oasis of Langers deli.
Best Pastrami in THE CITY of LA – Piled high and tasty that sums up my Langers experience. When it comes to sandwiches you don't need some gimicky bread or a fancy name for it's mustard you want quality. It sickens me everytime I go into a pseudo hip restautarant wishing to be cutting edge with stupid gimicky food names or some culinary infusion. We've allowed restaurants to tell us what we want NOT here. Plain and simple a Excellent sandwich with familiar ingredients. The city is losing it's Landmarks and we need places like this otherwise it'll just turn into a Starbucks or McDonalds
World Class Old World Deli – As a New Yorker and believing Katz's (The Harry Met Sally deli) to have the best Pastrami anywhere, I had to try the place. Their Pastrami is great..the best i've found in LA and seperate but equal to Katz's. The rye bread is incredible to and I understand it's made exclusively for them. In fact everything was terrific. When you want some old world Jewish deli, this is the place! This place has been around since 1947. Help keep this history alive! (Too bad they're not open at night or on Sundays!)
made the trek to langers – I ate at langers last week (aprl 26, 2006) I had been to Katz's in NYC I wanted to try the west coast version of the pastrami sandwich.
I got there at about 11:30 am and the place was uncrowded.
I ordered the famous # 19 and it did not disapoint.
The sandwich was quite big, the pastrami was heaven, and I really enjoyed the cole slaw on it. I ordered french fries with it and they were hot and fresh, pickles were crispy and not too sour
By the way, the waiter couldn't have been more polite and helpful. It did take a bit to get my order, as far as the detractors go My bill was something like 14.00 ( I didn't have a drink) sandwich and fries
if you like pastami and are in the area I would recomend stopping by even if it is just once
A REAL Deli! – One of the BEST! A real deli in Los Angeles with wonderful, wonderful food. Too bad about the neighborhood (its pretty rough) and a little scary (I would never go there after dark).
Simply the best – For those that live in Los Angeles it really is a shame if you haven't ventured to Langer's for the legendary #19. Quite simply this is the best pastrami sandwich ever made. From the bread which is magically crisp yet soft, the pastrami which melts in your mouth, the mustard which is hot but doesn't overpower, the coleslaw which adds a pleasant soothing factor to the ensemble, the cheese that is necessary but not intense, and lastly the secret sauce which is sweet and just enough to provide bliss in every bite, this sandwich is a mixture of all things great. Get some pickles and a soda and you'll be full for the rest of your day!
