excellent restaurant – My wife and I have been coming here for years. Reservations recommended. The bar is very nice and is in front of the restaurant/tables and good place to get a drink before dinner. We have always found good and courteous service and the food is always excellent. If you live outside the city it is easy to get to by bart. Get off at the Powell st. station and just walk up about three blocks and the restaurant is on the left. After dinner take the cable car (powell and hyde) down to Ghiradelli square and have an Irish coffee or just walk around the warf.

Staff Attitude – The interior is probably the best feature, especially near the open kitchen. Overall the food was only average for the price. The biggest problem was the attitude of the waitress who, after very ordinary service, complained loudly about the size of the tip. Yes, we made a mistake ma'am - we shouldn't have left a tip at all. We don't take kindly to being abused by service staff, after all a tip is discretionary and to be earned, not taken for granted.

There are other choices in the area and we'd give this place a miss next time we visit the city.

Better be flexible! – I just had dinner at Kuleto's this past Wednesday. We showed up for our reservation 5 minutes early & were told there would be a "slight" wait. Well, a slight eait turned into almost an hour wait!! The staff was very cordial, but I will be cautious about eatting there if you are on a timeline!

Good food, don't count on your reservation – Good food and our server was great, but the staff at the host stand was horrible. We had a reservation at 8:30, told it would be a few minutes and ended up getting seated around 9:00. If you are in a hurry or expect to get seated at a certain time, don't count on it.

Classic cuisine of Northern Italy served in the Villa Florence Hotel's bustling dining room. – Black-and-white marble floors, intricately carved, vaulted ceilings and a striking mahogany wine bar with brass fixtures give this spacious eatery an air of elegance, despite its frenzied atmosphere. Young professionals sip wine at the front bar, while tourists and theatergoers vie for seats in one of the two dining rooms in the rear; one overlooks the elevated exhibition kitchen, the other, divided from the hotel lobby by a floor-to-ceiling glass wall, offers more hushed environs. Service is efficient and conversant, if not meticulous. The crisp calamari starter, lightly brushed with buttermilk and served with vodka marinara and tangy remoulade, is a delightful preface to any entree. Hearty mains, like an exquisitely marinated, buttery rib eye served with garlic-flecked skinny fries, outshine uninspired pasta choices, like spaghetti carbanara doused in a lackluster white wine sauce. Sweet endings include creme brulee and a mild tiramisu.

Saved the Evening – We missed a play... Wanted a drink and something to eat... Was already in a bad mood... Stopped by and was pleasantly surprised to find a friendly bartender, a great new drink (recommended by the same), friendly, attentive service and great food. Turned a bad evening into a memorable experience. We willl definitely be returning to this place. By the way, I generally don't write reviews, but this place made such a positive impression that I felt compelled to say something.

Fabuloso! – I have to go to Kuleto's everytime I visit San Francisco! Some of the best inventive Italian fare I've ever had. Service is attentive, beautiful decor and relaxed setting, even when it's crowded and loud! I love it, it's a "must do"!

nothing trendy, just great – there's no culinary ground broken here, which seems just fine with the conventioning clientele. the pastas are house-made and very satisfactory. fettuccine with smoked chicken...to die for. good service. loud and convivial. try to snag a seat at the open kitchen counter if you like to watch.
