Perhaps you folks that have had bad treatment at Westmoreland should try UPMC Shadyside (where the #10 best hospital in the country does it's cardiac surgery). My father spent more than 2 months in that system for "gall bladder pain". For each day he spent in the hospital, he never saw the same doctor twice. Therefore, each of those doctors had their own opinion about his condition and would either send him home one day or keep him the next day because he had sepsis or a frail heart. Finally one day they did send him home because he was apparently clear of the sepsis and had no infection for 5 days. My mother objected to their findings pointing to his red face and high temp but their "Infectious Doctor" cleared him to go home, infection free. Within 10 HOURS he was back in that "superior" hospital with sepsis plus severe atrial fibrillation. At no time did any doctor on his team know what the other doctors were doing BUT they did send in their crack team of psychiatrists who "tried" to put him on antipsychotics because he wanted to go home after 31 days in the hospital!!! Do you want me to discuss the filth and crowdedness at Shadyside? Since Westmoreland is so bad, please experience UPMC Shadyside for yourselves. You'll soon see that you have a very nice hospital that makes mistakes like any other hospital, including the 10th Best Hospital in the USA, according to US News and World Report.
this hospital sucks – my mother fell and she grew a knot on her head that looked like her brain swelled outside her skull @ 1;30 in the morning they are sending her home on foot, how in the hell do you go to a hospital and they dont make sure you have a way home at 1 am , who does that? i hate this hospital I hope they close it, the city of greensburg needs to fix this! i moved here from Pittsburgh, i pay more taxes here then i ever did in pittsburgh they need to fix this transpotation system......this is the worst place and deff. the worst hospital!!!!!!!!!!!!
heart stents – have you seen two doctors at westmoreland were installing stents that did not need them. I had two stents installed by one of them and then still had the same physical problems as before the stents and called but the doctor would never talk to me personally. Also my treatment in the hospital convinced me i would never return. If you like dirty rooms and getting the wrong prescriptions and waiting 8 hours to be checked out its an ok place.
bad experience – I was sent to the hospital to have a post operative doppler done on my neck. They ended up doing a doppler on my leg that was already done in June, They said they checked with the doctor .I ended up having a bloakage in my leg and had surgery , now they call me to come and have the doppler done on my neck. I am alittle concerned about this, a month later. Then to top this off while i was in the operating room getting finished up there was 2 cleaning men sweeping the floor
ER and hospital stay – Went to the ER at 730 am and went right in. ER doctors (I had 2 different Dr's) were both great, extreemly knowledgable and took every precaution checking everything. Nurses in the ER were great as well. I would highly recommend this ER and it's staff. Upon being admitted to the hospital, this is where things went bad. It took 4 hours for them to send someone down to get me and bring me up eventhough a room was ready the whole time. Once in the room and throughout the rest of my 1 day stay, the nursing staff needed to be constantly reminded by me why I was there, my medications I needed to be taking and all other information that should have been on my chart. They never communicated with each other during shift changes and it took forever for them to come in if I needed something. My medicine was mis-ordered a couple times and when I said that I had extreem pain in my head (why I was there in the first place) the following morning, no medication was given to me. I had to wait to be discharged to go to the store and get my own. One of the nurses actually told me that it would be faster if I was discharged and went to the store rather than them calling down to the pharmacy and ordering the meds for me. They should be ashamed of the level of care in the hospital. Sorry, but its what happened to me. I will use the ER again, they were great.
