Really bad service – I went here last Saturday night. First of all, we had to seat ourselves b/c the hostess was not very helpful. The waiter didn't seem to care if we needed anything and I had to flag him down to order a drink after sitting for ~20 minutes. We dealt with it and ordered a tray of cheese and fruit which was pretty good. However, the waiter never came back to take our dinner orders so I had to flag him down to get the check. We ended up going to the Tapas place next door which I highly recommend. The best thing about this place was the bread that the busboy (who was helpful) brought to us. Needless to day, I'll never go back.
Yummy Crepes – It's one of the best crepe places in the city. good prices, fun place. The wait can be long, but it's a great late, night spot.
Bad attitude, no crepes! – Not my first time there, but definitely the worst experience so far. Last time, two years ago, we were ignored by the staff, but finally got a table and ate, and the waiter was pleasant.
Not so this time.
We went there during Labor Day weekend; the place was not crowded, yet the hostess was so rude when I asked her(politely) how long a wait there would be, that it was enough to make us go somewhere else. Not nice for a hostess to bark at customers...
There is no shortage of good restaurants in the area(Garcon, Foreign Cinema, Provence, etc.), none of them have displayed the rudeness and the lack of attention that we saw at TiCouz.
Best Creperie in SF – This is by far the best creperie I have had (including those in Paris). I guess the ultimate compliment comes from my husband who is a Frenchy and he has made it a required stop when we are in town. The ambience is that of a neat street cafe in paris. You can sit at a bar and watch the crepes being made, at a bar, on a patio or inside the restaurant and each is a different atmosphere. Of course sitting on the street is fun b/c you can watch the variety of locals that frequent the area. May I suggest the champignone and carmelized onion crepe covered with champignone cream sauce.....it is truly a culinary experience. This is a destination which is always on my list when I go back to my old home.
Disappointing Experience – Since Ti Couz had a great review, we decided to give it a try but we were highly disappointed with the overall experience - most of all the rude service.
The manager in charge absolutely did not understand the word "customer experience" which trickled down to the entire staff. We had to wait a long time to be seated, and then wait a long time for our server to come take our order, and then for our drinks to arrive and so on and so forth. The staff made you feel like they were doing you a favor and they were not baby friendly at all.
I have never written a review before but due to my bad experience felt compelled to share our experience. I doubt we will ever go there again or reccomend it to anyone.
Try the Nutella banana Crepe – Totally pleasant experience, and I can't stop thinking about those nutella banana crepes with vanilla icecream. The crepe shell itself was amazing. Get it.
Who Charges for Bread? – Ti Couz still serves the best crepes in San Francisco, and this is why I will continue to go there from time to time. However, patrons must adapt to servers who too often come across as indifferent. One should remember to order soup or salad with crepe(s) or be prepared to pay $2.50 for unremarkable bread, which becomes desirable after a long wait. Adding too many toppings will drive the cost far beyond what one should pay for a mere crepe. When the service is indifferent at best, and the total bill comes to more than $25.00 per person, for one crepe, a glass of wine, half a dessert crepe, and bread, deducting $2.50 from the tip to cover the cost of the bread seems justifiable.
Go for dessert – Crepes are great for breakfast or dessert, and not necessarily for other meals. They make the best dessert crepes in the city.
An inexpensive, delicious favorite – This is one of my all-time faves.
Casual, warm atmosphere with character. You really feel as though you are in a European bistro. Absolutely divine crepes, either savory or sweet. These are not your ultra-thin, delicate Parisian crepes, but glorious, toasty brown buckwheat numbers with fresh, yummy fillings. That, a big green salad and a frosty pint ~ nirvana.
Will NOT return... – I used to love Ti Couz. But not anymore.
I had a date at 6, but was early. The place was empty, but the hostess refused to seat me (even at the bar) or serve me (even just a drink) unitl I was a "complete" party. She was excessively rude, screaming at me and refused to get the manager. I left and we ate elsewhere.
I understand the rule about seating incomplete parties so when 2 show up from a party of 5, they don't take up a whole table while they wait- but this was insanity. Management take note, there is room to compromise in this situation. It's called customer service... but it takes common sense.
There are so many wonderful restaurants that I would rather give my dollars to one with decent customer service. I've never written a bad review before, but I was really offended.
