Overall, Not a Bad Spot – Went to "Downtown" Saturday night at Jillian's this past weekend and I thought it was pretty cool. Admission is a little pricey but the vibe was nice and the drinks, though watered down, were at least reasonably priced. The dance floor was packed and the 20 to 30something ladies were mostly attractive, relatively friendly and easy to dance with. The DJ spun the latest hip-hop/rap/R&B tracks mixed with some staples from the 90s and people got their grooves on without getting completely off the hook. The bar got a little crowded and finding a seat is challenging if you arrive after 11. I liked the fact that the crowd was somewhat diverse too, which is hard to find these days. While it's not the mind-numbing, wild party atmosphere I prefer, I'd definitely return whenever I just want to kick back and dance with a few cuties.
Like Paradise!!!!!! – I have never been to this place at night when they do dancing, but I went on Friday 5/22/04 Jillian's had their Grand Opening for SALSA!!! every Fiday night and man was I blown away with the amazing job the promotors are doing. The people in the place where not only great looking but were dressed very nice. The place looked like a nightclub out of Miami!!!!!! The cover charge was really cheap $10 for a classy place for Friday nights!!!! and not to say the beers were only $3 Pacifico.....I'm a corona drinker myself but I can switch for that price. I hope they continue do Salsa on Fridays.......I almost forgott the food was great also.
Terrible – The food was awful, expensive and the service was subpar. The waiter was rude and the staff couldn't wait to get my group out of the resturant to make way for the so called clubbing. All in all the worst dining experience I've ever had.
Two Words: Stay Away – The food? Mediocre. Price? Outrageous!
Dance floor? Large Music? HOLY CRAP! I was in a timewarp! (MC Hammer? Stereo MC's? Fine Young Cannibals? Prince? This is 2003!!!)
The DJ kept getting on the mic telling people to buy beer from the beer girl at the front. Where'd they get this guy from? A strip club?
Go to Border's or Barnes & Nobles and have a better time
Best Overall – Me and my friends are new to SF and we went to Jillian's for the first time. We were greeted immeadiately and by two great looking females. The server was great and new about food like she was a chef herself. We went to watch the last Lewis fight and was impressed by the quality of audio/video that was being displayed. The billiards room had great service and was the best quality tables in town. Food was great, billiards were top notch and watching sports.........there is no better place......
Alright alright. – Ah yes Jillians.. corporate dance club with pool tables, food, usualy sprots bar. The dance floor is SMALL, and when I was there the DJ was playing Top 40 and playing several songs over and over.. and the mixing was not good. There are plenty of seats to sit at.. so you can be on the sidelines and not particiupate on the floor. The bar is great ,.. This would be a cool place to bring coworkers/friends/lover - I'm a little irked about the 10.00 cover charge though considering the tiny size of the dance floor.
Avoid at all costs – I've been here three times over the past year. Once to eat, and twice for a Saturday night club. First, the food is horrible for the price. A $20-25 entree should not taste like its worth $5. I had lamb and it was overcooked and dry. Second, the club has the worst music I've ever heard. Correction, the worst DJ I've ever heard. Whoever is playing the music doesn't mix songs together, and on occasion they will repeat the same song 3 times in a row (as in stop the song at its end and press repeat) to make even the hardcore clubhead sick of the hottest club song. On top of this, they charged $10 at the door and the club was empty. Apparently, word of the bad music has gone around. Absolutely will never return.
Everything is good except for food – Jillian's is a nice hangout spot for sport fans. Huge TV screens showing all the major games going on for the day. Pool tables at the back of the house. Sala dancing on Thursdays. Food is mediocre but pricey. Can you imagine a burger with some tomato and lecttuce will cost you $9 plus tips? I also tried the steak and it was okay.
