used to be a good service, but since they swapped staff its really gone downhill...OVER 3 hours for a repair, even with an appointment. If youre going to pride yourself on quick service, then do it. I do not plan on returning
I went to the Monroe Muffler on Carlisle Pike in Mechanicsburg and waited about an hour and a half. While I waited the Manager talked to the other customers about non-work related issues, in the meantime the old guy that was working on my car came out to sell me an air filter so I bought it and he went back to work and finally came out to ring me out, now the manager never left the desk. I paid and drove to NY, when I got there i noticed that my car was making a noise like I had a flat tire and finally a local retired mechanic friend of my brothers looked at it and said that they (Monroe) didn't tighten down my lug nuts when they rotated my tires and it is a wonder my tire didn't fall off, ok so I called the shop to nicely tell the manager so maybe he could address it for future references, no he proceeded to tell me it was my fault because the paperwork states after 25 miles they should be checked...25 miles so you drive to the next town and waist another hour to have them checked, anyone working on cars knows that if they machine tighten them they don't just wear loose. Also the manager said he saw him machine tighten them down, so I asked when and he said after he rotated them, so first of all this is two or three days later, and I said hmmm if you recall you never left the desk the entire time I was there, he of course disagreed. then about a week later I noticed that my car was leaking oil in my driveway, my husband looked at it to discover that the oil filter was not tightened so I had NO oil left in my car and could have blown my engine.. Professionals huh..idiots DO NOT EVER GO THERE UNLESS YOU PLAN ON THEM RUINING YOUR VEHICLE!
If you want to be lied to and cheated, this is the shop for you. If you want to be charged more than you should, this is the shop for you. If you want to have the inconvenience of taking your car back multiple times for the same job because they have no clue, this is the shop for you.
If you received quality, fair service in the past, beware! The former manager, Tim, is no longer there. The place is filled with a whole new pack of people who are incompetent and dishonest. There are good mechanics in the area. I recommend that you find one of them.
HONEST, FRIENDLY, KNOW WHAT THEY'RE DOING – My husband and I have been taking our cars here for the last five years or so. We always trust the guys at this shop. They treat us like we are human beings and care if they do a good job. They take the time to answer our questions and always give us the best deal.
I'm not sure about the poor reviews written here and I feel sorry that these customers had such horrible experiences, but I can assure you that there are many other people who have had positive experiences and haven't written a review.
I don't plan on taking our cars anywhere else.

Great, dependable shop – The manager, Tim, is very personable and I trust him with my car- which is extremely rare to find.
Monro muffler - cheaters and liers – this gays are liers and cheater,
I went in to get my oil change nad rotors replaced, they replaced front rotors and oil changed on my first visit and asked me to come back next day. in mean time i realized that they charge me about $100 over the market rate for rotors, so when I went in for rear rotors installed, I asked manager Johnathan Pierich to refund me for rear rotors due to over priced, so he insteated me that he is refunding me $182.82 and i let him install rear rotors, now they are refusing $182.82 refund and corporate just basicly told me that managers are liers and they wont refund me my money.
NEVER GO TO THIS MONRO MUFFLER. THEY ARE LIERS AND CHEATERS AND WILL RIP YOU OFF BY HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS.
THIS WAS AT HARRISBURG LOCATION AND SINCE THEIR MAIN CORPORATION OFFICE IS LIKE THIS SO YOU CAN UNDERSTAND HOW THEIR SHOP WILL BE SAVE YOUR SELF BY NOT VISITING THIS STORE.
Good Experiance – I went in to get my exhaust/muffler worked on. Everyone was very polite when I came. It took about an hour and a half. The price was more then reasonable. When I was on my way out, a couple of the workers told me to have a nice day. Highly recommended, would go again.
Did the job, but not very well. – The manager on duty was polite and appeared to do a good job. He didn't, though, or his employees would have done a better job.
1. I asked for a specific lug nut torque when they reinstalled my wheels after inspection. He said "it's in the computer" and didn't write the number down. My lug nuts were torqued to 20-40ft*lbs above what I asked for. It's good for them, though, because overtorqued lugnuts are the number one cause of warped brake rotors. They're in the brake rotor replacement business. Enough said.
2. They scratched one of my wheels while putting it back on my car. No one has ever taken my wheels off or put them on my car but me. I bought them aftermarket and installed them myself. I cleaned the wheels twice in the last few weeks, and know that paint scrape wasn't there.
3. They "drove it around the block" for the mandatory road-test part of inspection. Their definition of "around the block" is 2.1 miles. I used the trip-odometer to find this out. Never take a sports car to them and leave it unattended. I don't know how much damage could have been put on my clutch.
The price was as quoted, though...
Oil change was cheap with coupon...but – I received a coupon in the mail recently to get an oil change, filter, lube and tire rotation for 17.99. I made an appointment online and took my vehicle - an suv - over at the appointed time. The staff mamber at the desk was polite. I told them not to bother to rotate the tires because I was getting new ones soon. I was waiting for it so they took the keys and soon the car was in the shop. A few minutes later the car was being backed out of the bay. It seemed like it was done faster than what it should have been but the kid who did the change came in and said it was done. They honored the coupon. I got in the car and drove home and parked my car in the garage. The next morning there was a huge oil stain on the floor. I realized why it had been done so quickly. The kid hadn't bothered to remove the skid pan when he changed the oil. So a lot of the old oil ran into the skid pan and has been leaking out wherever I've parked it ever since. I can't prove it but the filter didn't look like it had been changed either.
