A campy setting for traditional Amish fare. – The Scene
The giant Amish figure outside is Amos, a representation of the diner's original owner. Since 1950 Zinn's has been approximating the Amish culinary experience for antique shoppers visiting nearby Renningers and Shupps Grove markets. The atmosphere is standard mid-century diner--formica counter and vinyl booths, but a gift shop downstairs reminds you of Zinn's near-legend status.
Even if you order a turkey club, you'll still get to sample the homemade apple butter served on the table. But you'd do better to try the rich, homey traditional Pennsylvania Dutch menu items. Zinn's features changing daily soup, entree and vegetable specials: chicken-smothered waffles, beef heart, apple fritters, dried corn--and gooey, sweet Lancaster county desserts like shoefly and lemon sponge pie. Service is friendly and efficient, adding an extra dollop of hominess to the proceedings.
eat where the big guy is – Zinn's is a unique place as you can not mistake with the big amish guy out in front of the place. The line at the door should tell you you are in for a treat when you get inside as the food is to die for. and the service is really great too. so drive on down and see the big guy and you won't be disappointed
