I went to pick up my dress 2 days before my wedding and the seamstress was totally surprised I was there. When I called to make the appointment, I had said I wanted to try the final version of my dress on before they pressed it (because I had had some previous problems with the alterations). I showed up, and there were still pins all over my dress....nothing was changed from the previous fitting. The seamstress thought for some reason I was doing another fitting, but it was 2 days before the wedding!!!! My mom and I spent over 4 hours waiting for the seamstress to sew everything and remove all the pins. We went to dinner while they pressed it, but when I came back, although they said they pressed it, it still looked terrible and had wrinkles everywhere. I had to stand there and instruct them where it needed pressed. After spending 5 hours there, I said I wanted some sort of discount on the alterations. The staff said that they were not authorized to give any type of discounts, and that I would have to call back once the owner (Paulette) returned from a trip to Texas. I called and called, every day requesting to speak to the owner, and the staff kept saying I needed to leave a message and she would call me back. Well she never called me, but she mailed me a typed letter (not even on business stationary) and said the following:
"I have been informed by numerous staff that you have called with concerns about the extended period in which you were asked to wait so that your gown could be pressed to your satisfaction... it is also NOT our policy to reimburse brides for their time while waiting for their gowns."
The letter is laughable. And more importantly, the owner never called to even hear my side of the story. As the customer who paid a ton of money for the gown and alterations, I feel I was owed at a minimum a return phone call and at best some sort of refund for the alterations.
This was my 1st bridal appointment, and I couldn't ask for it to have gone any better! My family and I was greeted warmly by the staff, they listened to what I liked, had me pull a few dresses, and she pulled a few dresses. The woman that helped me was VERY kind, and made me feel special and welcomed. She tried many veils on for me and belts.. she even gave me time with just my mom and sister to talk about the dress without her in the room.. very respectful!! This was the GREATEST experience I have ever had at a bridal salon and would recommend this place to anyone!! At the end, she did not pressure me like other salons do.. she told me that they do not work on commission and she just wanted me to have the dress of my dreams, whether I found it there or not. How sweet! Love love love! After going to other salons and not getting nearly as good of service, I will be returning here to buy this gown!!!
I felt like I was a huge inconvenience – When we walked in, we were greeted by two workers. I mentioned I had an appointment, and one girl said to us to look at the dresses they had, and to pull any that we wanted to try on. We went through and pulled out the ones we liked. She set us up in the room. She kept asking me things that I thought should be a given. Like, of course I want the step standing...I want to see the dress! She never offered any veils, and seemed really rushed for me to try on the dresses. I put on the first dress and she said "so this isn't the one?" We were there probably twenty minutes. I just didn't get that experience everyone was raving about. My cousin was there 5 years ago and had a completely different experience.
Don't waste your time if you're over a size 12 – Completely agree with review below from am2012...and this shop may have had 250 sample gowns to try on in 2009, but it's 2012 and that number isn't even close.
Called this store prior to visiting because I'm above a size 12 and I know that it's difficult to find stores that carry a good selection. Told them my size and they said they had plenty to try on in the range and to come on in.
When I got there the two sales girls (not by any means to be confused with bridal consultants) pointed me to the wall of dresses and told me to pull out any I wanted to try on. As we all know, the dresses were hanging in bags and I had no clue what style they were, how they fit, price range, etc. And, there were about 5 total that I would have been able to try on.
I walked out after five minutes.
It's not hard to have a competent bridal salon. Have a good selection of samples -- have knowledgable, friendly, and helpful consultants -- and be nice to all of your customers. This store doesn't have any of the above. Pick one of the others in Lancaster...it isn't worth the drive to Millersville.
Shop here for an awful experience and rude service – Worst bridal shop in Lancaster! Almost everyone is rude and Paulette is awful. I have worked in the bridal industry for many years, and I must say this is once of the worst bridal shops I have ever been in. First I went here because they happened to have the dress I wanted in stock. The dress was nearly $2000 and despite the price I was still completely ignored by the two ladies working. They did do anything for me while I was in the shop. They even made my disabled mother help me get in and out of the dresses because they were training someone, which really meant she was one the phone for 40 minutes. I left without purchasing my dress and now I'm glad I did. Since then I have been back in the shop on four different occasions because it is only a few minutes from my house and they carry the bridesmaids dresses I wanted. Worst mistake ever to think they were worth a second chance. The second time I was in there the lady was very nice and friendly so I figured it was safe to order from them. I was very wrong. I went with my sister and mother and once again, no one helped us at all. We ordered her dress anyway since it was the only time she could come try it on. At that time I made an appointment for my two out-of-town maids to come the next night. When we arrived for our appointment, the shop was closed and no one had bothered to call and let us know they would be closing early. The two girls offered to go back the next night without me and try on the dresses without me. I guess I should have never expected them to possibly have written down my information. At this point I had given my information to them three different times and had been yelled at by Paulette (the owner) for not returning her call about needing my information. She had called my sister, not me and they had lost my information for the third time in two weeks. So my two maids go in to try on dresses without me and it turns out to be a nightmare. They are told they can choose any dress they want as long as it in the same collection. One is completely ignored and the other is made fun of for her size in front of other customers. Neither of the girls were helped at all and the shop hadn't written down any of the styles the girls could choose from. I am now requesting that everyone have their money returned to them and I'm ordering the dresses from another shop. Avoid Paulette's at all costs. If one thing goes right, the rest will go wrong.
What a great experience!!!!! – I had been looking for my wedding gown for almost 4 months. When you first get there, they let you look at all the gowns that they have. So I picked out about 3 to try on ( they have about 250!). After trying them on, my sales girl pulled about 5 more for me, and I found the perfect dress! I could not have of done it without their help. I would definately reccomend them to anyone. One of my best experiences with my wedding. They seamstesses are great too.
Not happy – There were good things and bad things. My gown arrived on time with a short ordering time. Employees seem to be very flighty or they haven't worked there long. Only the owner seemed to be able to answer questions and check on shipping and delivery dates. If I'd have had more time to plan my wedding I would have gone elsewhere to purchase my gown and bridesmaids dresses. For the cost of these gowns I was not happy with the service and knowledge.
