Inexpensive, friendly and fun, this is a great place for brunch or lunch. The chicken and waffles are wonderful.

The original location of this local soul food favorite brings big plates of bargain-priced Southern specialties to Potrero Hill. – Cops, construction workers and other versions of the Hungry Man come for cheap, heaping plates of barbecue and fried catfish and other soul food at this outpost of Alabama truck-stop chic. Kitschy, rusty odds and ends--typewriters, brand-name signs, old tools and the occasional giant fish head--hang on corrugated tin walls that give way to high loft-like ceilings studded with slowly rotating ceiling fans. For lunch or dinner, the menu features Southern staples like fried chicken, meatloaf and shrimp po boys with a choice of sides: mac 'n' cheese, red beans and rice, collard greens, candied yams, cornbread muffins warm from the oven, the whole deal. Sunday brunch--especially popular when there's a sports game to catch on the large TV that hangs on one wall--boasts omelets, meat-and-egg combos and grits to keep it as authentic as possible.

Great True Southern Home Cooking – I have been going here since it was called Inez's and it has only kept getting better. Hard Knox serves by far the best southern cooking in The City. The remodel did the place justice. And, the new hours a much better.

Great Home Cooking – Anything on the menu is good. I've been there enough where I have my favorites: Gumbo, side of fries, corn muffin. Whatever you eat, you will be satisifed and definitely go back, and back, and back.

Sticks To Your Ribs – Delicious comfort food in a no-frills setting. Fried chicken, meatloaf or ox-tail for the adventurous (plus many more entrees) and all the sides you could ask for. For 5 bucks you can get any three sides and two corn muffins (I get corn, mashed potatoes, and mac and cheese).
