My family and I all go here to have our hair cut. It may cost more than a chain store haircut but it's worth it. Our stylist Dora is great and we never get a bad hair cut. My wife constantly gets compliments on her hair. Small kids the do for way cheaper. Easy parking in one of the Market lots. Everyone is friendly and smiling and the interior gives you less of the sterile clinical feeling you get at other places while still being very clean. For the adults, you are pampered a bit along with the hair cut. After they take your coat they ask if they can get you something to drink while you wait. This could be anything from water to a glass of wine.
Once you are in the chair they start with a scalp and shoulder massage before washing your hair. After that, men get a hot towel on their face (The women don't get the hot towel. I guess it's so they don't get their makeup messed up). Then, no matter what style I want, I get a great cut. I used to be a chain store haircut guy to try to save a few bucks, but after my wife convinced me to try Daymaker, I won't go back to the cheap cuts again. It's worth the few extra bucks. Try them. You won't be disappointed.
Great Salon! – I was a bridesmaid in a wedding in Lancaster this past weekend. My friend, the bride, had raved about this salon for years, pinning after her stylist Donna while we were in college, but I still wasn't expecting to get a great up-do the day of the wedding. I live in NYC and always have my hair done at trendy salons and experiences in local PA hair studios have proven to be very disappointing. However, this salon did not disappoint!
Dora, my stylist for the day, was attentive and creative. She was able to do something that most stylist never achieve--she made me feel comfortable in the chair. When I asked to see the back of my head before she was finished, she handed me the mirror. When I asked a fellow bridesmaid for her opinion, Dora welcomed the feedback. When I wanted to clarify the style I had in mind, she listened attentively, all the while making the style her own and even better than I had imagined.
In the end, I felt silly asking the above questions because there was no need for me to ever doubt the quality of this salon. This salon has a high taste level.
I also thought that their pricing was fare. I had my makeup done as well. They have great Aveda products but because I of my skin type, I brought my Bare Essentials with me as a foundation. My stylist graciously said that she hadn't worked with that product and suggested that I apply the foundation myself. She then did my eyes and lips. I was prepared to pay the full makeup price but was very pleased to see a reduction in my bill.
If you live in Lancaster and need a hair salon, I would definitely recommend Daymaker!
