Great Vibe.
Great Location if staying near Union Square, Good food, portions and great value for money.
We were served by David the Equatorian with a MoHawk. He was fantastic and added to the great vibe in the restaraunt. Well worth a visit.
I veto Uncle Vito's.. Mediocre food. Bad service. It was great until we sat down and then waited for someone to notice that we were there. Food was not that hot when it finally arrived. The waitress forgot the garlic bread that came with the pasta. When she remembered and brought it, it was burned and we refused it. She seem aggravated when we asked for a second glass of wine, and really perturbed that we thought about dessert. Tourist or local, stay away.
Great casual place!. I love love love the pizza at this place. I used to love real close so it was super convenient, but I still go back from time to time for a beer and pizza. Everyone there is great and I've never been disappointed. Always fresh and hot!!
Late nite hungries and hot food.... I found Uncle Vito's to be just what I expected, good hot food and lots of it. We ordered the specials which were a feta, spinach and sun dried tomato pizza and a chicken and cheese stuffed ravioli in garlic cream sauce with mushrooms...the ravioli was easily enough for 2 with a delicious rich creamy garlic suace and big tasty pieces of mushroom. The ravioli came with garlic bread that was hot and soft and buttery. The pasta covering the ravioli was a little thick but the sauce was very good. The pizza had a crispy crust and warm melty feta over the spinach and tomatoes...very tasty. There was quite a crowd and I waited prob 20-25 minutes for the food...not excellent but very good...worth the wait for a good late night snack.
Piping-hot pies and more Italian classics in an ultra-casual atmosphere..
In Short
The pizza takes center stage at this low-key chain, but diners can also take advantage of a fully stocked menu. Appetizers and salads include deep-fried ravioli accompanied by a marinara dipping sauce and a classic antipasto; entrees feature a roster of pastas and fat sandwiches, such as the meatball sub and eggplant parmigiana sandwich. Delivery is free, but requires a $10 minimum purchase.
good affordable delivery. Ordered delivery from Uncle Vitos during a recent visit to San Fran. Delivered promptly to my hotel, nice and warm. The cheesy garlic bread was delicious, and the two Alfredo meals we ordered were good, but pretty average, definitely a hefty portion. I would order from here again if I was looking for some affordable delivery food.
Loved the spagettini. San Francisco for Dummies recommended Uncle Vito's a good food at a reasonable price - and it really is! I loved their meatballs (my way of rating Italian restaurants), the house Chianti was good, and I recommend the Spagettini with brocolli and garlic. We went twice during our 6-day stay.
great for take out!. this place is excellent for take out! the restaurant itself is a dive and the wait staff is lacking, but the food is great... we walked over from our hotel, but should have just got the take out. the meatball sandwich is excellent and the chicken ceasar salad is pretty darn good too... and cheap! take out for sure though.
I'd rather eat frozen pizza than Uncle Vito's!!!.
Uncle Vito's does for pizza what the KKK does for race relations. A (former) friend recommended this place for a quick bite...hopefully no one will find his body where I dumped it...
If there ever was an "Uncle Vito", he's probably spinning in his grave. This pizza was no better than from your grocers freezer. The "garlic bread" we ordered consisted of a grocery aisle hoagie roll cut in half with a schmear of garlic spread stuck in the oven for a couple minutes...now THAT' S ITALIAN!!! I'm just surprised that I didn't find Spaghettios or Bologna Alfredo on the menu. If you even consider eating here....you deserve what you get!!!
As for the service...I'll let you guess...
Poor imitation of Italian food.
I'll be the first to tell the truth. I had to check out this restaurant after reading some rave reviews on the internet. What a hoax. It was not Italian food. The spaghetti was one big soggy mess with a tomato sauce that tasted like it came out of an old can. Vito's pizza was below average. DiGiorno's frozen pizza outranks this place anyday.
The place was crowded and noisy; reminiscent of a fast food joint. Service was poor; lunch took over two hours! Since the food wasn't edible, we left hungry. We immediately went to another restaurant in Union Square to have a real meal.
Don't let the friendly name fool you. If you value good food, then just pass this place and don't look back.
