There are so few places that do large groups well in San Francisco. Not only were the food and service very good, our large group of kids walked in hungry and walked out full and happy. I would definitely go back again, particularly with a large group.

Grant Place Restaurant is a really good place that has food that tastes good and very very reasonable. It's not a fancy place by any means but you also don't have the fancy price tag to go along with it. I took 130 people of which 100 were kids here for a field trip. They were so generous to all of us and even gave some special dishes to all of us for free! The owner Elaine loves kids and even wanted to do a special cooking demonstration for them. She fed all of us within 5 minutes of sitting down at the table. Service for us was fantastic.

I brought my students there to have a cultural experience in Chinatown. The owner was so friendly and welcoming to my students! The food were so delicious and fresh. Definitely a nice place to visit in Chinatown!

Two words to describe Grant Palace: RIPOFF and GROSS!

During my vacation to San Francisco for Spring Break, I made it a point to visit Chinatown to experience some delicious dim sum. Grant Palace is NOT the place to go!

As we were walking on the street looking for a dim sum place to eat at, a lady handed me a flyer and shooed us into the restaurant. We saw that it was busy for a Thursday afternoon, so we decided to give it a try. Little did I know that I was in for bad food at a high price!

The dim sum was VERY hot, and I actually questioned whether it was microwaved due to the extreme temperature and poor texture of the food. The service was non-existent, and the plates and tea cups looked less than clean.

In the end, the waiter attempted to charge us for a plate of food that we never received. When I pointed this out to him, he acted ignorant, and tried to take only $2 off of the bill. When I asked him to breakdown the bill for me (since the bill only had the total written on it), he rudely broke it down. I ended up spending almost $30 for 5 small plates of dim sum. I am pretty sure that the waiter ripped me off, but I could not prove it because there were no prices on their dim sum menu. How convenient!

My recommendation is to run when the "flyer" lady approaches you. I said "RUN!"

A Hidden Surprise – We stopped in while we were walking around Chinatown. We ordered 6 spring rolls, 6 bbq pork steamed buns and 6 potstickers. Each dish was $5.00 each. It was a great deal.

The spring rolls were crisp and fat; not oily at all. The steamed buns were full of pork and not too bready, as sometimes steamed buns seem to be. The potstickers were in a class by themselves. They were huge; stuffed full of pork and vegetables. An order of these would be a meal in itself.

I would highly recommend the dim sum at Grant Palace.

won't eat there ever! – This is the worst restaurant I have ever been (no kidding). Not only the waiter was rude, during the whole meal, he did not even bother to stop by our table and fill out water/tea. The dishes taste awful; the squids in one of the dishes were spoiled... We should have figured that this place is terrible from the fact that at dinner time on a Saturday in early summer, there were only 3 tables occupied during the whole time while we were there.
