I bought a large sectional couch, La-z-boy, that was a floor model. I skeptical about buying a floor model and not a brand new one, but the sales person assured me that La-z-boy had a lifetime warranty on the cushions and that the hardware was warranted up to a year. I bought a new fridge at the same time, when they delivered my order, the fridge was damaged and tried to offer me a discount on it. I requested a new one and they took care of it.
After 3 years, most of the cushions were flattened and woren out, so I contacted them with my original paperwork to request new cushions. Well, after many phone calls and arguing, I was told that I need a ticket that would be stapled to each piece of the couch for the cushions to be replaced. I could only find two of the tags, I explained that this was a floor model, so they may have been removed or knocked off at their own store.
I refuse to beleive this was the only way (when I had my receipts and delivery paperwork) to get the cushions replaced under warranty. That's ridiculous and if a "tag" was necessary you think they would have mentioned that in their sales pitch. I actually asked to speak to the sales rep, thinking they might be more helpful, and they lied to me and told me she was no longer with them. A couple months later, I was shopping in that area and saw the woman was still working there.
They did replace the cushions I was able to locate tags for, which were so faded they could barely read them (and gave me a hard time about that as well).
Maybe the warranty issues was not totally the stores fault, but either way - BUYER BEWARE ask questions about any warranty and requirements, because they will not be upfront about it.
DAMAGE WAS DONE TO THE FLOORS...... – Damage was done to the floors in our home and our sons home. They are trying to tell me that my wife is the one that scratched our kitchen floor. If they bring something in your home make sure you have pictures or better yet a camcorder to show proof !
Great Store! – Fantastic Selection. Appliances galore. Their warranty service is backed by GE. for all their stuff. Three months ago bought a dishwasher had a small problem and their warranty kicked in. No Problem.
Grand Central Fraud! – An extended warranty was purchased with a stove from Grand Central. Three months ago, the stove broke and has yet to be fixed. At the time of purchase, the warranty was represented as being through Grand Central however the owner has now changed his story at least 4 times and not only was rude and screamed when confronted about the unacceptable time frame, during the latest call, he stated "Well why don't I call [repair company] and tell them not to come at all. Then you can do whatever you want." We also had an issue with a rather expensive entertainment system a few years back and I ended up doing the promised repairs myself. Beware of this company and it's fraudulent practices!
