Great place, good service! – I used to go to the store to buy glass and materials for my classes and was always helped in the best manner possible. The store also has a great lamps selection.
Response to January 2007 Review – My name is Debra Herman and I am the owner of Stained Glass Creations. I would like to set the record straight. Dale Tiffany is a manufacturer of stained glass lamps & windows from LaMirada, Ca. who does in FACT assemble their lamps in China. They make no apologies for that. Second: Any intelligent person would do their research before criticizing someones work. You do not and never have used PAINT in the construction of a "Tiffany Lamp" unless it has a scene painted on the glass before assembly which this repair did not! The use of a chemical called patina is sometimes applied to the lead or solder to change the metal from gray to black or copper. Dale Tiffany uses a lower grade solder than we do in the production of their products and can in fact be hard to work with. Also the patina which reacts to the metal will be slightly darker or lighter on different grades of solder. As I recall the difference was barely noticable. Is a matter of fact the glass match was more noticable.Third: As far as the amount of time it takes to do a repair, it takes as much time as it takes. There are no shortcuts if you do the repair properly. Typically we have between 10-20 repairs in our shop at any one time. We do the reapirs in the order recieved. Since the husband wasn't present during the incidecnt he says occurred, this review is pure heresay. When the customer was not happy with the results of the repair, we did not charge her for this repair, so the comment about spending MORE money to fix it is also a lie. The entire reason for the customer insulting our workmanship was so she could leave without paying for our hard work and she did succeed. We have been in business for 29 years and have only had good things written about our store so I needed to set the record straight on this ONE bad review. Our repeat customer only have wonderful things to say about Stained Glass Creations and its employees.
Terrible service, bad workmanship – We left a Tiffany lamp with them for repair which my wife dearly loves. We were told the price would be somewhere around $50 which we said was fine. We called the store two months after having left the lamp with them to enquire on progress. We were told that work still needed to be done and that they would call us. The next day we were told the lamp was ready! At no point did we say there was a rush and we went to lengths to explain that it had sat on a shelf for more than a year after our baby had accidentally knocked it over.
When we went to pick up the lamp the workmanship was extermely bad and we were told that because the lamp (authentic Tiffany, stamped with Dale Tiffany logo) was made in China they couldn't match the paint color after the patina changed during the soldering process. this sounds odd to me since they are a Tiffany dealer. My wife was told she was an idiot and to get out of the store.
The owner ( Debra Smith-Herman ) and her daughter were very rude and I hope that nobody has to go through what we did. If they had said that they were expriencing problems with the repair and it would have taken a bit longer to fix and a few more dollars we would have been fine, but instead they were very defensive , called my wife an idiot and accused her of not wanting to pay the bill, which was never mentioned during her whole visit to their store. The truth is that if they hadn't been so rude we would have been open to negotiating a price since some of the work was ok - the glass is fine but the manual work they went through to put the glass in is terrible. We will have to spend more dollars putting their repair right.
