I hear the Plush Room is closing and becoming a restaurant ( Like SF needs another restaurant!) Their promotional materials say " Farewell Season"
This is a great venue and tradition - can we save it?? I have seen no mention of this in the Chronicle,. It would be a sin to let this great cabaret die. There are few left in the country and this place is unique in the Bay Area.

The York Hotel's swanky little lounge features top-notch performers. – In Short
A colorful stained-glass ceiling bathes this elegant Eisenhower-era nook in burnished twilight. Red-velvet banquettes and round tables with chairs face the small stage and provide the perfect setting for nattily attired patrons to sip cocktails while listening to (oftentimes flamboyant) cabaret acts.
This Dirty Little Secret is one to be kept! – I wasn't sure what to expect when I heard about this show, but I was amazed at what I found! It's like a 1920s stage show meets moulin rouge. The jokes and tricks will keep you laughing, while the burlesque dancers shock and amaze...the servers were helpful, professional, and polite. The atmosphere of the Plush Room is that of red velvet curtians and chairs, which only helps to add to the ambiance of the show. RJ Owens is brillant as he leads you from act to act through out the night....I can't wait to go again, my girlfriends and I LOVED it!
Va Va Voom! – Check out the cabaret/burlesque performances late night on Friday and Saturday. $25 cover with no drink minimum for a fun, slightly naughty show with guest performers changing every week. Strong drinks, big laughs and the occasional pair of pasties make this an excellent late night draw at a reasonable price.
Oh Yes- Good Times! – I visited the Plush Room for the first time last weekend. It served as a great date destination; highly entertaining and very comical. We checked out the later show, which was the Va Va Voom Room. The entire production was well done and the Plush Room itself is small but comforable and intimate.
Cozy = Sophistication – Great venue for hearing amazing performers. The intimacy of the room allows the entertainer to connect with the audience in a way not found in larger venues. The drinks were incredible and substantial. Not the usual "sippy cup" offered in most places.
