An ice cream seller knows more than scientists? – I will NEVER buy ice cream from your store. I prefer to deal with people who are intellectually enlightened, not those who spout off ignorant and uninformed opinions.
Brain Freeze at Ice Cream Store – Your reaction to Earth Hour is idiotic! Even if you (showing your ignorance!) don't believe global warming, do you not believe that we should conserve Earth's resources anyway?
Stick to making snacks, and don't wear yourself out trying to use your brain!
You're an idiot. – Based on previous customer reviews concerning your attitude and service, you won't be in business much longer, sparing the earth from one more fool. Thank God for small favors.
Great place for arrogance! – It's amazing that people like you own businesses. Your lack of education on the issue of our environmental crisis is alarming and disturbing...to say the very least. Your arrogance and self-absorbtion is going to be the downfall of your business...but that will be a good thing...there's no room for people like you in our world today. I just hope any employees you may have don't suffer too much.
As a business owner myself, during these difficult times, I feel a certain responsibility to my community and anyone working for us. (I prefer the term "with us".) It makes me want to take extra steps to be better and more responsible for the sake of all.
And it's not just my community...it's all those we come to know.
I hope New Hope turns around and completely boycotts you since you don't deserve to be part of that, or any other, community.
Mr. Gerenser is a Complete Moron! – Mr. Gerenser is a shallow and complete moron with very little knowledge of the world. He lives in his own bubble and does not care about the future generations. From reading the posts here it should not be long before his shop is overrun with protesters.
Did you really think it through or Do you need publicity? – Of course, you have the freedom to choose in this great country of ours but I have to question your motive behind this decision to actually incease lighting and the use of electricity during the "Lights Out "hour. How can increasing electricity usage benefit anyone other than giving you your 15 minutes (ok maybe 60 minutes) of fame? If you don't agree with the "cause" that is your option but why go completely against it and waste more electricity in your community? Is your community actually standing by you inthis???
A great place to go if you hate the Earth! – Mr. Gerenser, I hope your bafoonery in this article causes people to boycott your shop. I am absolutely appalled that anyone would make such an ignorant statement. I hope everyone wanting a cup of ice cream realizes what a creep you are. Go to Yahoo and search the article "Lights out in 84 countries for Earth Hour 2009"
Anyone who wants to know what they are supporting by eating at this guy's place should read this article first! Read all 4 lines to truly understand what you will be supporting. I hope your antics are getting the reaction you wanted, because I doubt I am the only person who feels this way. For everyone wanting to offset the owner's ignorance, please celebrate Earth hour tomorrow at 8:30 at your local time
Quoted in this article as saying that Global Warming is nonsense based on faulty science:
news.yahoo dot com/s/ap/20090327/ap_on_re_us/earth_hour
Sounds a bit like the flat earth people. That said, let's just say for the sake of argument that you are right. Do you deny that resources on this earth are inherently scarce? Do you care nothing for your grandchildren, and their children? Even if global warming *was* an invention, there is no denying that this precious earth contains finite resources, and squandering them will really hurt future generations. You are truly a selfish person, and I wish you would live long enough to see their suffering.
Aren't you the guy? – Aren't you the guy who told the newspapers that you would protest Earth Hour (the hour in which lights are dimmed worlwide to conserve energy) by actually adding theatre lighting to the store? Not helping is one thing. But buddy, actually taking steps to get in the way is a whole other thing. Why so bitter?
History will show your actions for the foolish ones that they are. O yeah, and enjoy the spiked electricity bill this month! You've earned it!
Dreadful disappointment – I had great memories of Gerenser's from many years ago. My husband and I made a point to stop into Gerenser's on a recent day trip to the New Hope area.
On Saturday 7/26 we walked into the shop after dinner. The one occupant, a man in a tee shirt and baseball cap, didn't at first acknowledge us. He was moving junk around and seemed to want to get back to smoking his cigarette. Behind the counter the wall to wall menu was blank except for about 7 flavors, most of which were "x'd" out.
In an attempt at conversation I asked if they were out of those flavors for the season or if they were making batches. He mumbled something about "we're just getting started up again" Since one review I read was from just two weeks before our visit, I wonder what he meant. It's the height of summer season and this landmark should have been humming with activity.
I decided to try African Violet. It was served pre-scooped in a Styrofoam to go cup. Removing the lid passed for customer service. He took my money and rushed back outside to smoke.
In the future I may pop my head in one more time and see if the atmosphere has changed. If I don't see improvement I won't bother again. I'm a customer service professional. When conditions in your place of business are not optimal, it's your job to offer your customer a positive experience in any way possible. I'm not saying you need to juggle and tell jokes. Just eye contact and full sentences would have been nice.
p.s. The flavor was interesting. Too bad Mr. Personality couldn't tell me what was in it. I discovered some chocolate chips, and some other bits that might have been flower petals. There was a slightly astringent undertone that reminded me of zinfandel.
Apparently I can't file a review with no stars, but I would if I could.
