Nasty, mean people – Since this is the only car wash in town (hint: a great opportunity for someone to open a second one!), I pulled in only to be greeted by a very sad man. I ordered the usual, the "works" which now costs extra for the "rain x" part. I asked if this was now an extra charge, he said no, I knew better. Whatever. My truck came out clean, the crew dried it off halfway. I mean, the car wash itself, the machine, is good. The manager is a nasty, overbearing, bully. I hate paying for this guy's salary. I'd rather drive over to Fairless Hills or Morrisville and get my vehicles done there. In previous visits, with other cars and trucks, I've had damage done inside, such as spraying the console which left spots (when notified, bully manager said I was only trying to get a free wash---hello, I'm just trying to salvage the paint, not get my money back... So now you are warned. Go elsewhere. I plan to snail-mail a complaint to the owner of the carwash, but I sincerely doubt he/she will care. Look who they hired...
Terrible Place – I visited Sparkle Car Wash at noon on a sunny Tuesday. I called ahead to confirm they were open. When I pulled up I was greeted by a completely miserable young man who asked me what I needed. I told him I wanted to get the inside vacuumed, but did not need an exterior wash. He told me I needed to pull around to the front and do it myself, which was fine with me. When I found the vacuum in the front there was no hose attached. At about the same time, the manager walked out and asked me what I needed. It would have been impossible for him to be as miserable as the kid who greeted me, but he was close. I said I was trying to vacuum my car, or purchase an interior car wash. He told me that the hose to the vacuum was inside and they weren't hooking it up today. I reiterated that I would be happy to buy an interior wash. He thought about it for a few seconds and then told me that wasn't an option, and they were closing in a few minutes so I had to leave. He then started yelling at all the employees to pack it up and close up shop.
Overall I wasted about 20 minutes of my life getting there and back, and I encountered a few miserable people. Not exactly a pleasant experience. Between this trip and some other reviews I read which were far worse than mine, I will definitely never visit this place again.
STAY AWAY - EXPENSIVE AND COULD DAMAGE YOUR CAR – I agree with the other negative review. Since this was the only car wash in town, I went to it even though it's so expensive. For the routine wash ($15) and to clean my tires ($3) I paid $18.While waiting, I heard a young lady saying that the cars were too close and were going to strike each other. I then heard screaming and people were saying a car was rear ended. I looked and it was MY car that had been bumped by the girl's truck from behind, scratching the bumper. When I asked if I could at least get my $18 back (considering that I just paid $18 to have it scratched), manager Tom said no because it was my fault that my fob key was not left in the car. He said it was "common sense" to leave it in the car. There are no signs saying that keys must be left in car. Other car washes I've been to DO NOT turn off the car so there's no need to take the keys out of my handbag and leave them in the car. I called the car wash later and asked that the owner call me. I later got a call from manager Jim who still insisted that it was my fault my car was struck although he did agree to give my $18 back. If he hadn't I would be speaking with a lawyer. When I asked for the owner's name, I was told that they couldn't give me that information. I had a feeling that this place has a LOT of unhappy customers.
AVOID Sparkle Car wash in Newtown! – AVOID this car wash. Not only is the service consistently poor, but the handling of a recent incident was extremely disappointing.
Service: First time in, I ordered the top of the line wash for my filthy car and requested vacuuming for interior and trunk. The wash was average (at best), the staff barely dried the car off, and I discovered later that the trunk was not even vacuumed. I only went a 2nd time because they are truly the only game in town. This time, I specifically mentioned the vacuuming. When my car came out, my passenger side view mirror ($600 to repair) was dangling. Not only did they claim that they were not responsible, the manager, Jim ordered me off the property and "threatened" to call the police. I suppose vehicles damaged by their process are bad for business. I suspect one of their employees must have bent the mirror the wrong way and broken it off. I'm not sure, but I did notice that it took an unusually long time to get from the hand off point to inside the car wash area. My insurance company is investigating further and I am spreading the word locally about the poor service. Interestingly, MANY have confirmed that they really do a poor job and admitted to only using them because there are no other options close by.
My advice: 1) drive out of your way to avoid this place
2) Encourage someone else to open a car wash nearby. The poor service at Sparkle in Newtown is enough to support another car wash business.
