1940s-style diner chain serves comfort food classics to patrons with a craving for nostalgia. – In Short
In 1982, businessman Doug Cavanaugh opened the first Ruby's in Southern California's Newport Beach, naming it after his mother. Today, this nationwide chain--adorned with red vinyl booths, Formica tables, soda fountains and retro posters--features the same timeless food and hospitality that keep diners coming back. Favorites are the classic burgers topped with secret RubySauce, fries and sweet shakes. Other staples include pancakes, omelettes, sandwiches, chili, salads and a variety of fountain treats.
works for a quick meal – This is good spot if you want a decent, quick meal that isn't terribly expensive. The decor is pretty cool - a 50s style diner with period advertising on the walls and a model train that runs just below the ceiling. The food is pretty average. They've got great drinks. I would recommend a milkshake or a flavored coca-cola.
