11! – On a scale of 1-10 (10 being the best) I would give this course and country club an eleven. If you haven't been here yet you need to go! There is nothing bad here.
Loved it! – I come here a couple times a month to play golf and hangout with the guys. The course is beautiful and really enjoyable. It's short but challenging and a good time for all of us. After our game we have lunch in at the country club. DELICIOUS.
Run by Lazy Jerks – It is near impossible to make a tee time here. They routinely do not answer the phone, and when they do, it is with an attitude.
The course is average, at best, yet they act like it's Pebble Beach.
The only recourse for this place is new management.
Rude staff – It is like pulling teeth when making a T-off time. The guy who answers the phone has the "who the hell are you" attitude. Am I inconveniencing you because I am trying to make a t-off time? For this reason alone I will not play here again. The course is ok, not great, but it is not worth dealing with the guy who answers the phone at the pro shop. Customer service 101, don't be an A hole.
Courses like this are why golfers become addicted to the sport. – In Short
Although short on paper, Paxon Hollow is certainly not short on challenges. Elevation changes, blind greens and tight fairways require excellent course management and patience. The 18th hole is either a wonderful challenge or a stake in your heart, depending on your outlook. One of the most challenging and picturesque holes in the area, you will want to play it over and over, to get the best of it just once.
Paxon is a great little public course – Paxon is quirky for sure, but considering some of the fees for public courses going thru the roof(Wyncote, et al) and others in DelCo that are always in bad shape (Cobbs' tee boxes - aka dirt boxes) it's a nice track. It's $25/32 on weekdays - where can you beat that. Sure you can drive an hour+ and spend $85 at Wyncote or $110 at Hartfeld and play a great course, but who's got the time and cash to do that on a regular basis - I sure don't. The last hole at paxon is brutal and beautiful - played it 30 times+ with maybe 1 par. Is it so hard to be unfair, maybe, but it's a great hole none the less. 17 is a great test too.
Not worth it – I played this course as my home course on the high school golf team. It's way overrated. Alot of bad (weak, unfair, or poorly designed) holes. Staff are always rude. Way overpriced.
Great Target Golf – I return to Philly and visit every few months, and try a different golf course each time. I found Paxon Hollow to be great for the price. It's not a long course, but there's some great target golf. Narrow, wood-lined fairways, and a couple holes that require smart play. The greens aren't terribly fast or bendy, but they're kept in good shape. Scenic and fun.
