Kim's gave me the best haircut ever – I'm not one of the people who owns or works at the salon. I'm a real customer, and I'm telling you that Kim gave me the best haircut and color I ever had. Yes, as one reviewer said, it's not as chic-looking as some of the other salons in the area. The decor may need a little update and there may be people smoking outside the door. But what does any of that matter? I've been to the really stylish, and more expensive, salons, and not gotten the level of attention and quality haircut that I got from Kim. The difference is that Kim pays attention to my face shape. I have a a broad face with a square chin. Other hairstylists were always giving me the latest celebrity hairstyle. I don't look like a celeb! I don't have their skinny faces and I don't have their cheekbones. But Kim took note of my face shape and gave me a cut that worked with it, and, importantly, one I can replicate at home. I have gotten more attention from men since Kim did my cut and color, and I can't think of a higher compliment than that.
yes, the reviews are being written by the owner – Unfortunately I have to agree with Elisabeth who said that the reviews on this site are being written by the salon's owner, Kim. I went to Liquid a month ago and two weeks ago, just to make sure: and yes, the place is dirty, with unswept hair on the floor, dirt and a smell in the bathroom, and every stylist smells of cigarettes. They all stand outside the salon and smoke. It is unhealthy for everyone. I will not be going back there. I would give it no stars if this system let me. Don't waste your time and money going there.
Love that Liquid! – Liquid is a great salon. Everyone is friendly, the atmosphere is great, and the restroom outstanding!!! Theresa is my stylist and I would not go to anyone else in the City for a haircut. I have never received as many compliments as I do since she has been doing my hair.
Try them - I know you won't be disappointed.

Best Salon in Center City – Liquid is one of the most comfortable and friendly salons in center city Philadelphia. All of the staff members are great! Kim is my stylist and I have never left the salon not feeling truly pampered. She is the sweetest stylist and the atmosphere in her salon displays the warmth of a family. I always get complimented on my hair style and asked where I get my hair styled. Try Liquid; you will not be disappointed.
great place – i love this salon, everyone who works there is great and i have always left satisfied. i love the big windows overlooking 18th street- you can people watch while getting your hair done :) i've never had a bad experience at liquid
Attention to detail and quality – I am a regular customer, 7 years or so, and I have had my hair done by both Greg and Kim. I am not sure I understand the smoke and smell problem that the other reviewers have said. I wonder if they are neighbors that get miffed by it. I have a very sensitive nose, and nothing has ever bothered me.
My hair is curly and doesn't need much to show shine and bounce, but still I get detailed treatment and haircut. The staff is always very friendly and I have always found the appointment time I have aimed for.
If you are new in Philly and don't have idea where to cut your hair, try them out.
Liquid is the best – I am very picky about my hair. I went to college in Boston and swear I tried every salon in the city and was never satisfied. When I moved to Philly three years ago, Liquid was the first place I tried, just because it was conveniently located and because I saw they use Aveda products, which I really like. I never went anywhere else! They do a great job and are very reasonably priced. I go to Brian and he's fantastic. I don't really get the debate over the smoking...I never noticed anything like that and I'm SUPER picky about it (sensing a pattern?) I highly recommend.
these reviews are written by the owner herself – Don't believe the good reviews here: they're all being written by the owner, Kim, or by the stylists themselves under different names. Truly, literally, this place "stinks" -- yes, what that other review said is true: all the stylists smoke, and though they're not allowed to smoke inside the salon, they all smoke right outside the door, and they stink of smoke (clothing, hair) when they come into the salon. It's sickening. And yes there is great turnover in the stylists, because they can't get along with kim. and NO i'm not a hair-stylist -- i'm in marketing -- but two vists was enough to convince me to go elsewhere. If you don't believe me, go there and see what I mean. But (as another review says) be prepared to Tip Big, or you'll get glared at.
My one-star rating is only because the system won't let me award no-stars.
Curly hair god – The most fabulous salon in the city, Cyrill is a god. Positively the best person to cut curly hair in the city. Not only is he the go to person for those of us with curly hair, he also does a fabu highlights. My hair always looks great thanks to him.
Michelle Rocks – I followed Michelle from her previous salon where she saved me from a bad habit of less-than-flattering cuts and home-dyeing mistakes. Michelle's given me the best color and cuts ever - hands down. As a client that consistently changes her color and style, Michelle always produces a great results, and works with me to make sure I know how to style it on my own. Liquid's a great salon where I can always get an appointment with short notice - the staff is friendly and accomodating, and I ALWAYS get great results. Highly recommended.
