With its formal gardens, falling water and sparse, airy structure, this is Fairmount Park's most tranquil spot. – In Short
The traditional 17th-century scholar's house--complete with sliding screens and paper doors--was built in Fairmount Park in 1958. The architect, Junzo Yoshimura, had designed the structure for an exhibition at the MOMA in New York, five years earlier. The landscaped grounds, which visitors explore from flat stepping-stones, were designed by Sano Tansai.
ANOTHER COUNTRY IN OUR BACKYARD! – I'VE VISITED THE JAPANESE HOUSE FOR YEARS, I'VE BROUGHT MY KIDS AND NOW MY GRANDCHILDREN. THEY ARE AMAZED TO SEE HOW PEOPLE CAN ACTUALLY LIVE HAPPY WITH OUT BEDDING! THE KOI COMING TO YOU AT THE SOUND OF A CLAP ALWAYS DELIGHTS THE LITTLE ONES. THIS IS A MUST SEE AND EXPERIENCE.
