A seemingly ho-hum eatery does deli right and satisfies hungry patrons with stepped-up basic fare. – In Short
Breakfast and weekend brunchers flock to this Society Hill staple [and often sit among strangers at the center communal table] for superior Nova salmon platters, flapjacks, omelets, and fresh squeezed OJ. Later in the day lunchers nosh on legendary corned beef, piled-high club sandwiches and tasty burgers. Dinner brings a dizzying array of comfort food options including a decent matzo ball soup and roast brisket. A brisk to-go business includes some of the neighborhood's best bagels.
Corned Beef, Fat & Good – If you want corned beef that still has fat and tastes good - unlike your average deli meat from the supermarket and other 'delis' around town that carry dietz & watson and similar overly waterey, too-lean nonsense - buy your deli slices at the counter in the back. I stopped in on a whim to look exactly at the corned beef bc it's so hard to get the good old stuff anymore, and was pleasantly surprised.
