Have always found that the straight up dishes, with tofu and/or veg alone, are the best thing to get here, above the faux meats. Mock beef though is killer!
Looking to go VEGAN? This is the place! – The food was outstanding. Most vegan restaurants have a sampling of food...not much to choose from whether its good or not, but New Hamony had a multiple listing of pages in their menu! So much to choose from and everything I had was AWESOME!
The spring rolls were fresh. I tried the spinach and scallion pancakes, which came with multiple sauces to dip. Sean's Gen Tso's chicken was great and I had duck! We could not stop there and went for the raspberry cheesecake....wow. On Sunday they also have an all you can eat buffet starting at 6pm ($12).
They are my new Best Restaurant!!!!!
BEST place in the WORLD! – Since Ming sold KINGDOM, he focused on NEW harmony and he made it the best it has ever been!!! I was served these white , hot, and soothing napkins to wipe our hands with . The food was the absolute best , and everything was very nice , formal, and orderly. The employees have uniforms which look very nice. They asked me questions with manners. The food was just UNBELIEVABLE.
Great Food! – New Harmony vegetarian restaurant is a wonderful establishment located in Chinatown. The menu is just as extensive as any chinese restaurant but it is entirely vegetarian friendly. The faux meat is delicious and the scallion pancakes are definitely worth trying. They have excellent service and a moddy interior. Grade: A+
perfection. – i've eaten at countless vegetarian/vegan restaurants across the country, and this is EASILY my favorite. the food is amazing, plentiful, and well-priced. the staff is courteous, helpful, and friendly. they offer "special dinners" - which include an entree, soup, and spring roll for only $12 - an offer which can't be beat.
they have such a wide variety of appetizers, soups, and entrees that it would take years to try everything. they also have a good amount of desserts and a wide array of drinks... including absolutely delicious smoothies that are perfect for these hot summer days and the best iced tea i've ever tasted.
for first timers, i strongly recommend the special dinner with either the walnut jumbo shrimp or phoenix chicken and hot & sour soup. if you aren't immediately hooked, you're a cyborg sent from the future to search for sarah connor.
Fast, Excellent Kosher Vegan Food – New Harmony Vegetarian looks nondescript, with its spray-painted overhang that reads, "New Harmony Vege", but once you walk inside it immediately sets itself apart from the myriad mediocre restaurants that litter Chinatown's streets. Some would (and have) called it ?too dark"; I call it great atmosphere. It's a dimly lit, intimate setting perfect for either a quick lunch or long dinner. For the vegetarian or vegan, this restaurant is a haven of infinite possibilities. Everything on the menu is kosher vegan, so there is no need to ask whether or not there are any animal products in any of the dishes. Everything I have tried has been excellent, brought out hot within ten minutes. The food is very well priced; a typical lunch special includes more food than could possibly be eaten in one sitting and averages five to ten dollars. The flavors are balanced subtly and beautifully. I highly recommend the Jumbo Shrimp with Walnuts (and I don't even eat the walnuts!), lychee duck with pineapple, beef bun (for $1, even if you don't enjoy the controversial potato bread-like bun, it's worth ordering), hot and sour soup and the Choco-Ban shake. If you're not adventurous, try the General Tso's chicken- an old standby prepared and presented beautifully in a cabbage leaf. Many items on the menu come with spring rolls, rice and a small dessert at the end of the meal. I can't say enough about this restaurant: in a primarily omnivorous world, most vegetarians are happy being able to find something, anything to eat. This food is so many steps above simple sustenance that it will be very much appreciated.
It was okay – this particular restaurant was okay. There wasn't any bad stuff and the food was good. The atmosphere was too dark in there. i wanted some light to see what i was eating!! Other than that this place was okay
yuMmY DucK!! – the duck looks sooo real!! i like the taste of it! its like a boneless duck n it comes with all different kinds of sauce!! yummy! never tried anything like this in my life!
great service and great food – All you eat dim sum is awesome because it is the best platter. I had a party of 15 people in this restaurant and as a result I had one free New Harmony T-shirt.
Flesh-free reproductions of classic meaty Chinese fare. – In Short
Inside and out, Harmony looks like any other average Chinatown eatery: peach tablecloths, salmon napkins, faux pink carnations on each table, an illusory wall of mirrors that makes the place look twice its actual size. Best bets include the pan-fried chive dumplings dim sum--savory and ever-so lightly fried--and the imitation pork happy family, with a perfectly crisped assortment of fresh vegetables. Feeling adventurous? Order the sweet-and-sour fried whole fish.
This is our favorite restaurant! – My 7 year old daughter is a committed ethical vegetarian and we as a family keep kosher. So this restaurant is perfect for us, since all of us can eat here, and we all love Chinese food!
If you are a meat eater you will not even miss the fact that its faux meat! I actually prefer this to real meat, and I'm not a complete vegetarian.
We love their lunch menu, which is available every day, not just weekdays.
Our family wants to hold a fundraiser for pandas conservation for PANDAS INTERNATIONAL, and we are hoping to have it here!
