Great Food – This place is awesome to drink and great wings!!
The price is just right too, I suggest you check this place out.
HORRIBLE SERVICE! NEGATIVE ATMOSPHERE – so my girlfriend and I decided to go to Moriarty's for lunch because we heard that it is a great place to eat and have drinks for a reasonable price. Well we were not expecting our visit to be a day from hell!
As soon as we walked in we were un-welcomed by the hostess and server who were too engaged in their conversation to stop and greet us. Finally after standing there for a few minutes in an empty restaurant we were sat. Our server did not bother to tell us her name (petite older women with long brown/grey hair) and looked annoyed as she yelled out the specials. She messed up our order and brought my girlfriend the wrong burger. When she tried explaining that she did not order that our server tried to argue and explain that "she was not in the wrong b/c she wrote it down." As we were eating our food our server was then yelling at her co-worker about work related issues which became so uncomfortable to listen to. Even the table across from us looked shocked and shook their heads. I give credit to this girl for keeping her cool and not raising her voice as she got barked at. I understand that we all have bad days but one should not be working in the service industry if they cannot separate their professional and private life.
To make matters worse even the manager displayed un-professionalism when he came down hard on another server for not cleaning her table "fast enough" in his eyes. I mean to talk down to your employee who was clearly trying to work hard despite the negative atmosphere is just sad. Its not what you say it’s how you say it- and this guy was just plain miserable.
I will never come here again! The food is okay but not worth spending money at a place that clearly does not appreciate it. People save a trip unless u want to spend an hour in hell.
Great bar for after work drinks – I came here a few times with clients when i was in town for conventions. The drinks are very reasonable compared to most places. The bartenders are very friendly and knowledgeable. This is a true Irish bar, i will continue coming here after those long meetings
GREAT Irish Pub – Great time and the best happy hour beer selection in the City
Enjoyable Experience – My girlfriends and I were in the other night before a show at the Walnut theater. We usually stop in here before going to the theater.
We were greeted by a sweet server who helped us choose beers from their large selection. (Their drafts are $3 during happy hour--why not try one?)
Our food came out pretty fast and everything was good. I had the quiche of the day and the french onion soup. Very tasty.
We had dessert, which was fantastic. The bread pudding is to die for. Served hot with whipped cream and some kind of gooey sauce. I was disappointed to find out that they didn't have the cheesecake that I always get. Bring it back!
Overall, great atmosphere and great food.
Great spot for a beer and a bite! – Moriarty's is definitely a must try if you are looking for a beer or cocktail in Philly and want to unwind. The staff is very nice, prices great, food yummy......overall top notch spot!
AWESOME! – Moriarty's is an awesome bar/restaurant. Their draft beer selection is extensive with many imports, often including Belgians(my favorite). The pub grub is also very good. I particularly like their wings. I highly recommend Moriarty's!
Second But Last Try – We had tickets to a show at the Forrest and thought Moriarty's would be convenient. We had stopped there once before and had a bad experience, but thought we would give it another try. First, the two hostesses were rude and seemed too busy to do their job graciously. The one hurried my husband and I off to a high table by the bar. I can't do those hang-your-legs tables...I'm old. I guess I should be flattered that she thought I could get up in the chair, much less survive my dinner hanging there. When we asked for a different table, she displayed some annoyed attitude and dismissed us to a small table next to the aisle by the bar. We ordered drinks, water, salads and entrees. The drinks came in good time. Our entrees came surprisingly quickly, but before the salads. When we reminded her of the salads, they arrived, but the table was too small to fit them...they sorta hung off the table into the aisle. People going by kept brushing them. Twice the busboy tried to take them before we were finished. I started holding on to mine with one hand, in defense of passer-bys and the busboy. Then our water finally arrived. My husband had the smallest two crabcakes that I have ever seen. He said they were, "OK." My fish and chips were "OK" as well. When we were finally finished, the server seemed disappointed that we also wanted coffee. An urgency to get us on our way seemed to surrounded us. We surrendered! Paid the check, and welcomed the quiet noise of Walnut Street. Our second chance visit will be our last. PS I'm pretty easy to please and this is my only review ever written, but I thought I should give a heads up to other season ticket holders.
I know this may be a little later but I am sorry you had such a bad experience at Moriarty's. It's unfortunate that you decided you don't want to come back because we would love to have you stop in for a drink on us.
LOVE Moriarty's – VERY good beer selection, good food, good Happy Hour prices and friendly, attentive service. A++
save your money & your time – went 1st time w/friends from the hospital for some muchies & a drink or two--bad choice.
we were first @ the bar & bartender got the orders wrong. So we decided to try a table hoping that would be better--bad choice. we ended up under a speaker that was both loud & had a tinny sound. server was more interested in trying to score w/somebody at another table, so we were ignored unless we spoke up loudly. when the food came--ugh, should have sent it back. nobody had ordered the same thing, but none of it was good.
