Its ok... – Decent service, food taste very good, but I felt I overpaid just couple a little bit for Mexican food. Its like the local version of Out of The Border in the city. Do not get me wrong prices are less than $20 but a real Mexican restaurant in South Philly will be much cheaper. Its just ok.

you literally CAN'T wait to eat – can't comment on the food because we didn't eat it. and, from the treatment we were given by the host, you'd think that they didn't actually want us to. upon arriving with our party of 6, we were told that we had to wait for a table, but that we couldn't actually wait in the restaurant for it. could we perhaps sit and wait at one of the numerous, large empty tables in the front of the restaurant, we asked? no, those tables are reserved, we were told. so we left and quickly found another place that would allow us to remain both before and during our meal.

PLENTY OF FOOD FOR THE PRICE! – THE ONLY BAD THING ABOUT THIS PLACE IS THE PARKING. THE AMOUNT OF FOOD YOU GET WITH YOUR ENTREES IS WELL WORTH THE PRICE.

A lively crowd only brings life to lackluster Mexican cooking. – In Short
The original location of this mini-chain draws in a predominantly young clientele for generous portions of its almost innumerable combinations of inexpensive Mexican food. Margaritas, in all their incarnations, are delivered from the front-room bar, imbuing the small, yellow-walled dining room with a celebratory air that's matched by decorative sombreros and colorful blankets. The best of the offerings are the simple chicken tacos and the chili rellenos, which are firm and fiery.

User review by meme728 – My first experience with reall mexican food was here at El Azteca and it was awesome! My boyfriend and I just went this past Saturday and the you definitely get a lot of food. My boyfriend is the kind of person that will finish his plate in about 5mins and still be able to share your plate, but not an El Azteca he was unable to finish his steak burrito which was the size of his 10" oblong plate and topped with white melted cheese. I definitely recommend this place.

alright food, good drinks – My friends and I enjoy hitting up El Azteca for authentic (not Taco Bell) Mexican food and good times. The food has never been out of this world to me but after drinking a few Coronas or Dos Equis makes it all worth the trip.

Poor Service – I went to the restaurant in the NE and was so upset with the service. It was very very poor! Our food took almost an hour to get. The waitress didn't even ask if we needed anything. I had to keep getting her attention to give us things and she never gave me what I asked for!!! Our food finally came, she forgot my son's food. She didn't give us sufficient napkins, didn't refill our drink, she disappeared and didn't see her until I got up to pay. She was unpleasant! I just don't understand why the service sucked?!?!?! We were the only ones there!!!

I never had a problem the the one in SJ.

jEmEm – I have nothing but good things to say about the food. My only problem was with the waitress who took forever, both to sit me and to take my order -so much so that I chose to take out.

Finally, authentic Mexican!! – Being originally from the South, where authentic Mexican food abounds, I was very disappointed when we moved to Philly 2 years ago. We found plenty of TexMex places (the spicy stuff, what most people think is authentic Mexican), but the real stuff was hard to find. What a relief to stumble upon this place! The food is fabulous, albeit the service is slow. If you want AUTHENTIC Mexican food, this is the place for you!

Makes Taco Bell sound Delicious – K... first of all let me say the service at Taco Bells drive through far exceeds the service here! SERIOUSLY! And the food leaves a lot to be desired. It sure did'nt taste all that authentic and fresh to me. I guess if you've never tasted authentic Mexican food you may find this place good. This place is cold, not just the service but the food and the temperature too!
