Definitely Not Recommended – I called Mike to repair my BOSCH tankless hot water heater because he is the only recommended service agent on the BOSCH hot water website.
Mike came out and diagnosed the problem as a "design flaw" with the heat exchanger and made warranty claim with BOSCH who sent me a replacement water heater. Mike quoted me $650 to re install the new unit (in addition to the $120 service call). The day the new unit arrived, Mike didn't show up until 4:00pm Friday, (supposed to be first thing in the AM), Mike partially installed the new unit to where I had hot water online, and then said he'll be back Mon or Tues. to finish the job (which was the most labor intensive part) When he left he asked for a partial payment ($400) which I paid.
Mike called that Tues and said his computer was hacked and he couldn't make it until Thurs or Fri. Well, Thurs or Fri came, Mike was a NO CALL -NO SHOW. (my check was cashed, he had no problem going to the bank)
Eight days later still NO CALL NO SHOW, I called him, and he claimed to have been "slammed" by the State (of PA) for some kind of tax mix up, and the State threatened to shut his business down and that his "guy" messed up some tax forms. Mike did offer to return but I just could not allow that due to him taking my $400 and not calling or showing..
Typical methods of a scam artist! Unfortunately I'm out $520 due to his scam. And, after addressing the "design flaw" issue with BOSCH, its not true. BOSCH is on to his nonsense also..
Very disappointed.. and what makes it a true scam is when Mike does not offer any partial refund.
BOTTOM LINE: $520 for 2 hours of easy work, incomplete installation, run around, excuses, and no offer of partial refund. NOT RECOMMENDED!!
GREAT PLUMBER! – Mike Farrell came to my house to replace a hot water heater. When the old heater was removed he noticed that the floor in the heater room was buckling and recommended that I have a carpenter come in and jack and brace the floor in the near future. Mr. Farrell then decided that he was not comfortable with installing the new heater until the floor was properly shored up so he proceeded to do the job. It took him all day to do what I am sure he thought would be an easy job. It was my good fortune to find a plumber with such high standards, a great work ethic and neat and considerate of my carpeting. The total cost of the job was more than reasonable, It truly was the "Luck of the Irish" to have Mr. Farrell in my home and I would recommend him to all my family and friends!
The worst contractor ever! – WARNING TO ALL: I WOULD NOT EVER HIRE MIKE FARRELL!!!
He took my money and never finished the job! He destroyed my house! He ripped out the entire bathroom and the hot water heater and we had to move out of the house for 2 months. He failed every inspection, then stopped showing up for work, and then stopped returning my calls. I had to take him to court and hire a new contractor - which cost a fortune because almost all of Mike's work had to be redone, reinspected, damages caused by Mike had to be fixed and then the rest of the job had to get completed.
WARNING TO ALL: I WOULD NOT EVER HIRE MIKE FARRELL!!!
