The Dive is definitely a dive, but it's an awesome one. Happy hour is smoke-free (it's pretty smokey in there otherwise) and there is free pizza!

Great little bar – What a little gem...

1st flr: main bar, crowded and smokey (yes, u can still smoke here). Although they serve food, I think the food menu is more of a running joke, than an actual menu, with items like:

- chef boyardee

- hot pockets

- stouffers

2nd flr: another small bar

3rd flr: pool table and dart board (behind the door marked "private office"

Ohh yeah, most important: reasonable prices.

I'll definetely be back.

Awesome bar – 4 dollar PBR/Yager shot special, free pizza, smoking allowed, juke box...what's not to like?

It's overwhelmingly hipster, but whatever, you're in Bella Vista- that's kind of the deal.

A neighborhood institution changes for a new generation of drinkers. – The Scene
Outwardly, not much has changed in this tiny South Philly bar since longtime owner Frank "Smockey" LaMassa retired and sold the place to a new generation of barkeeps. The slender, low-lit bar still has the slightly desperate feel of a place where a person goes to have a shot and a beer alone. But the vintage liquor signs and Sinatra paraphernalia are gone, replaced with flyers for rock shows. A jukebox at the end of the bar is stocked with Sabbath, AC/DC and Metallica. The old-timers who used to stop here at the end of the day have been replaced with a younger, louder and more tattooed crowd.

The Draw
This is still a drinker's bar. Low stocks the basics: bottles of beer (no taps) and standard, no-frills liquor. In other words, don't ask for a Cosmo. If you are hungry, there's an international array of snacks available.

Perfect Dive – Beer, more beer, and straight, no-frills cocktails. The jukebox is good, the conversation is never uninteresting - or you can be left alone - it's dark like that. Solid little place for a non-scene kind of pint.

A real bar – This is a great place for drinks and conversation. Don't go if you want dinner, to watch the game or to show off your trendy outfit. But if you're looking for a good atmosphere, a youngish but not teenie crowd, real drinks (no daiquiris or any other fruity/fluffy stuff here) and proper conversation, this is it. A good buzz but not too loud. Two bars, downstairs (more crowded) and upstairs (great view). A great way to cap an evening with a date or with friends.
