Great New Patio!. I have been to the Four Dogs 3 times this past summer and really enjoyed it. They have expanded their patio and have live music outside on the weekend afternoons. Their roast pork BBQ is excellent. Slow roasted and very tender! Service has always been good! Only problem with the patio is having to drink a pint from a plastic cup. But I know its a safety thing.

better choices. The reliability has declined a lot in the past year. The bistro menu was always limited but quality was good. Now the menu is even more skimpy and some items really are poorly prepared like the coconut shrimp

we had the last time. Service is also sub par. Most of the attention on the weekends is directed at the patio bar and lounging area which creates a lot of noise.

Terrific Food, Horrible Service. I would have given the Four Dogs a 5 if I had not received pretty much the worst service ever. The food was great, and heated up well. Nice atomosphere, but on the cold side!

The high points of my bad service:

-Never got my glass for my beer after having to ask for it (fellow beer snobs will agree that some beers just shouldn't be drunk from the bottle)

-The order was wrong

-She didn't come check on us, we were halfway through our meal when we finally got her attention

-Didn't get ketchup (after requesting it) until halfway through the meal (two people had fries, one had a burger!)

-We were given the check before coffee dessert or anything was offered.

-General attitude more fitting to 15 year olds working at a fast food restaurant.

Food is Much Better. Recent changes have improved the so-so food to very good. Menu needed improvement... Nice place to relax outside, live music on weekends. I will be a regular with the new menu---

Avoid Four dogs. The reviewer must of been paid off. The beer on tap is warm and full of foam because the bar tendor informed us the beer lines are fifty feet long and sit in the hot air. A person at the bar complained about the beer and the new chef saids if you dont like it, leave. He has no customer service skills. A group of us complained about the clams and the chef said it was not the food. You must not have good cullinary taste. This guy needs to go back to the city. There are no tvs to watch sports and no wings, nachos or real bar food for a country pub. The chef attitude that it is all bout him and not the customer. He knows more bout what the customer needs.

What a DISASTER!!!. This guy above me is probably the owner or something - because this place is awful. I have been going to Four Dogs for 6 years now, and in the last year with an idiot new owner and new managers taking over this place has become a disaster. It used to be a great, relaxing spot you could go to with friends or family to have a great meal & even better drinks at a good price. Now, since the new chef from the city came - the menu is awful! The portions are less & prices are higher. The beer selection is not bad actually...BUT...the drafts are so bad it takes the bartenders 5 minutes to pour one - consisting of 3 cups of foam making one awful warm beer. Not the bartender's fault, it's been like that for years and the owner is more concerned with running off the local "country folk" than fixing their taps. Also, a lot of my favorite staff has left or is leaving b/c of the way they are being treated. The new staff is terrible! IDIOTS. You can't make a country tavern a city restaurant!! People will go to the city if they want that atmosphere - what are you thinking?? Embrace what you have - an incredible building, superb atmosphere & loyal customers. UGH!!

Fantastic food and wonderful atmosphere. The Four Dogs is a gem of a Tavern just outside of West Chester. They have a fantastic veriety of beer , tasty food and live music. You can't go wrong here.

Just to the left of the middle of nowhere, Four dogs is the suburban spot city folk hope to find yet rarely do.. In Short
Actually outside of West Chester proper, Four Dogs is part of the old Marshalton Inn. Despite some oddly-corporate trappings like logo sweatshirts and hats for sale, is a thoroughly relaxing place to enjoy a country pub setting in the not-too-distant country. In the summer there's a delightful outdoor patio, serene and sunny--the perfect setting for a cocktail and a meal and there's live music on the weekends.
