Gem of Gwynedd – William Penn Inn was recommended to me from a few friends. I took my girlfriend there for dinner on Friday night and we sat in the Monet Dining room. They had music playing and the entire vibe of the place was one of royalty. Server was extremely attentive as was the entire staff there. Everyone is so helpful and friendly its just such a great feeling. AND!! That's before we even had food!

The cocktails were amazing, nice to know people can still make a great martini.

The Food was DELICIOUS! My girlfriend ordered the Braised Shortribs with a balsamic demi that was to die for. I splurged and ordered the Penn's Surf and Turf and I still have dreams of the meal! They are def. up on the trends as the meals were plated like you see on Top Chef. Dessert was right on par with the rest of the course. This place is a GEM!!!

Celebration buffet – My boss at my work said that she likes to go to the William Penn inn for nice family occasions so I wanted to make Father's Day very nice for my husband/family. I called nearly a month prior to make reservations for our special family outing.

Unfortunately I regret choosing the William Penn Inn because I don't think anyone in my family was impressed. We arrived promptly at our seating time 2 p.m. and were seated right away. Our waitress was very nice. I soon told her early into the meal that I was very disappointed that it was going to be a 200.00 meal and so many of the entrees were empty. Not even a spoonful available. Many of the cold salad bowels were empty. The roast beef was down to a small pink end with mostly fat. The horseradish dressing near it not even a spoonful. Entrees including the stroganoff, fish, sweet and sour chicken and scrambled eggs all empty. It was embarasing that I had invited my family to this and disappointing that I had decided to spend my hard earned money on this. We had 7 adults in my party. All my personal family and guests. I did tell the waitress and she did report that she had advised the kitchen. Guests were standing around the hot table with plates at their side in disbelief. We had been invited to a buffet with no/little food. In this situation people just tend to fill up on bagels or fruit which is not what I had intended or paid for. By dessert time, someone in my party asked a person if more chocolate covered strawberries were available. He said he would go check. Well after 5 mins. we walked back and there was no sign of this person nor the strawberries so we asked a nice woman to please follow up with the answer. She said she would. I saw her come back another 5 minutes later but it was with a plate to start eating her self. The time was 3 pm. There must have been 15 different workers in the black/white uniform making their own plates. The begun to sworm the stations and were talking among themselves. I saw one man/employ just grab the dessert cake with out using the serving utensil. Just his fingers. You wouold have thought the place was closed and empty but we and others were still there. Needless to say 10 mins. of working on the little chocolate covered strawberry request was a waste. No answer. No one gave a hoot. Well, that concluded my first visit to the William Penn Inn. I paid 200. and left. It was not very impressive at all. No one in my party particularly cared for the meal. Quite a poor decision on my part.I regret coming to this place.

Much Better Places for the Money – Been here once. Food was fine. Very busy. Rooms are beautiful. Very overpriced for quality and technique of food preperation.

Much better restaurants in the area for price and quality. They did burn by chicken; it had a bread coating and the cooks left it in the fryer too long.

You can tell they have been doing the same thing for so long, and they are so busy they are afraid to change.

The prices make me want to go eleswhere.

very good place to go – the inn has always been a great place to go ive attended weddings, lunch, family parties, brunch on sundays with my girlfriends and recently for dinner. the menu is always a treat. anything that the inn does they do it very well. the restaurants are only the tip of the iceberg the inn has its own bakery and in house florist. if you dont want any doubt about a night out being worth it go to the inn you will be very happy.

WOW....love the new small plate menu and jazz – Dinner at the William Penn Inn last night was wonderful. The addition of the small plate menu is a creative way of enjoying William Penn Inn’s vast menu. We enjoyed it tapas style while listening to Father Jon play Jazz on the piano and sipping great wine. It was great to find a local restaurant in the suburbs with great Jazz, drinks and small plate menu! I highly recommend you check it out!!!!

Dreadful service--incompetent and rude. – At lunch in the Commonwealth Club last week, I ordered a daiquiri, which turned out to be a big mistake. The waitress asked if I wanted it on the rocks or with salt, which should have given me my first clue. I explained that I wanted a traditional, non-frozen daiquiri. After a long delay, (everyone else's drinks had long been served), she brought me a frozen pina colada. When I said that wasn't a daiquiri, she became rude and abusive. Next, a man who identified himself as a bartender offered to get me a replacement. I said that if they didn't know how to make a daiquiri, that would be fine: I would order something else. No, no, he said, it's a simple matter. After a long delay, (by now our food had been served) he reappeared with a glass of flavored vodka. When I said that daiquiris were not made with vodka, he too became rude and defensive (although not as bad as the waitress had been), and said that that was the way they make them there!

Service, ambiance, food – We came to WP for a small birthday party (10). We were taken to a room straight out of a Dickens novel. The room was furnished with elegant antiques. The mantle bore a georgeous floral arrangement. The table was set elegantly with fine linen and china that would make your grandmother proud. I was reminded of Thanksgiving dinners of yesteryear. The service was superb and the food excellent. Everything was perfect. In contrast to the prim and proper table settings, the ambiance was casual, cozy, and comfortable. We had a wonderful intimate 60th birhtday celebration. We were there late, but no one came to say it's closing time. The William Penn Inn is a class act. I had the best Martini ever.

Banquet – I just recently attended a birthday party at the William Penn Inn. I never realized how beautiful and elegant the William Penn Inn is; it was the first event I've attended there and I am now looking at the possibility of having my wedding there! It was absolutely beautiful, the service superb and the food was excellent! I highly recommend checking it out for any possible banquet function or just to simply dine there. It's such a historical building and the thought of getting married there makes me feel like a part of the history.

Saturday Dinner! – I just recently had dinner this past Saturday Evening in the Commonwealth Club. It was absolutely delightful. The Atmosphere is elegant. I enjoyed perfectly cooked lamb chops and it must be one of the best preparation in Philadelphia! My husband's surf and turf was a nice gourmet twist to a traditional surf and turf. The wine list was abundant and almost too much to choose from, however the kind server helped with a recommendation that complimented both of our dinners but was economical. I definitely recommend whenever you get a chance to head to the William Penn Inn to do so. My husband and I frequently dine here!
