Peoples Cafe has the Best Thai Ice Tea on Upper Haight. And yes... now i have to type 55 more characters to fill this space.

Haight Street characters are permanent fixtures in this quirky coffee shop that's perfect for a quick bite or a leisurely latte. – Despite efforts to rejuvenate and reinvent the neighborhood, there's a certain friendly, liberal, anything-goes attitude in the Upper Haight leftover from its heyday, and this coffee house-diner-art gallery has it in spades. There's nothing overtly Grateful Dead about it, save maybe for a few of the rotating colorful prints that grace the walls, but the regulars that score the perfect people-watching window tables are as likely to be relics of the '60s as they are to be Gen-X telecommuters. Coffee is a prerequisite, and many pair it with a quick morning muffin on the run or a proper sit-down brunch or lunch of breakfast burritos, egg scrambles, burgers or salads.

cool place – i just started going to this place, i live close so it is very convenient, the staff was very helpful, and the drink i got was quite tasty. the place isnt as cozy and warm as i generally prefer, but ill get over it. oh and the art that has been hanging the past few week is awesome.

Slow, Rubber Food, bad attitude – This neighborhood place has so much potential! Fails in many ways - besides the location, interesting decor, and decent size for siting this place should be avoided. Menu is deceiving - what comes with sides/what is extra? All things on menu have an asterisk indicating included or you have to pay more? While I was there they got 3 orders wrong (including mine), made me wait 25 minutes for pancakes, had attitude about all of it and the food was less than mediocre. Pancakes were rubbery, tossed over eggs so sopping wet and none tasted remotely worth paying $11. Go down and wait at Pork Store Cafe or across the street at All You Knead.

OK Food in a touristy shopping district – This is good for a quick bite to eat, perhaps after exhausting yourself from shopping in the many stores that line historic Haight-Ashbury. But don't expect too much. The food is pretty much burgers, fries, salads, etc. It is satisfying enough when you are hungry and don't want anything fancy. This brightly-colored place is not much for people watching or re-living the carefree days of this neighborhood. The cafe is trying too much to attract an artsy crowd but unfortunately the Haight nowadays draws a lot of tourists or some hippie-wannabes with fat trust funds which results in a place that is very much contrived.

Totally Average In Every Way – Not much to say about this place. Coffee was weak. Food was ok, not awful but not great. Staff was indifferent. I liked the photos of Haight Street. The place bills itself as some kind of peace-themed cafe but this seems like a gimmick because other than the name and the sign they don't seem to do anything to promote peace, or anything else for that matter. The other places in the area are better: Pork Store, Blue Front, Coffee to the People, Squat & Gobble.

People, you can do better – Rubbery eggs florentine. Bitter coffee. Brittle, greasy bacon. Overcooked ommelettes with soggy, colorless ingredients. Fresh squeezed orange juice was the highlight. Sorry, not a good option, esp. in this area. If you just need a bagel and tea, knock yourself out, there's probably an empty table waiting for you. If you are looking for a savory complete traditional breakfast keep walking.
