Best Waxing with Tiffany – I was in San Francisco recently for 9 days and didn't have a chance to get my waxing done in NY before I left. I was considering getting my legs and bikini done at a small shop on Haight St.
I am a licensed cosmetologist, so I am a pretty well informed consumer of spa services. I called the small shop and started asking questions about their waxing and they actually said, "If you're picky, this is probably not the right place for you." (The reason I am not naming the shop is that I appreciated their honesty so much.) I asked where I should go and they said, "Skin City. They're the best." When you get that kind of referral from a competitor, you know the place has got to be good.
When I arrived, I immediately loved the cozy, down-to-earth decor. Tiffany was my waxer, and honestly, she blew me away. I'm a huge baby about waxing; it usually takes me forever to get through a bikini wax.
Tiffany was so fast and so thorough, it was amazing. After the waxing she went over everything with a tweezer. Pain was minimal. I'm not saying it didn't hurt at all, but it hurt about 75% less than any other waxing I've ever had done. I'm not sure whether it's her technique or the products they use that account for that.
For one thing, instead of powdering the areas prior to waxing, she applied a very light oil. Tiffany told me the oil helps the wax adhere to the hair, but not tug the skin. Needless to say, I'm a fan!
We go to SF fairly often and I'm definitely going to wait to get my waxing done when we get there from now on. I am so happy I found this place.
Also very impressed with their pricing. Full leg wax with bikini plus cost only $90, which was considerably less than the other place I had considered, Fix in the Mission, which was $80 for full leg and $50 for modern bikini (bikini plus at Skin City).
Two weeks later, my legs and bikini are unusually smooth. I can't recommend Skin City and Tiffany highly enough.
kelly's so cool you forget the pain – i've had my share of brazilians and getting them from kelly is the way to go. she does an excellent job, will shape and perfect to your desire and she keeps you distracted the whole time. i'd also recommend monthly facials from kelly!
Expert and affordable waxing, skincare, nailcare and natural products in a cozy location. – In Short
This simple, earth-toned studio forgoes luxury and pretension in favor of offering reasonable prices in a comfortable setting. The front retail area offers organic products, while back treatment rooms host an eclectic mix of locals and repeat clients for facials, microdermabrasion, alpha hydroxy peels, manis and pedis, waxing and electrolysis. Any hair removal or skincare service comes with extensive instruction from your esthetician on how to care for your skin without pushing products.
Best waxing – Kelly has been shaping my eyebrows for years. I wouldn't even consider going to anyone else. All the other aestheticians I saw before her were rough and I'd usually lose some skin. Kelly is gentle and the shape of my brows really flatters my face. I recently had my first facial with Kelly and I highly recommend that experience too. The treatment rooms and relaxing and cozy. The location is good. The prices are good. The staff is friendly and very low pressure and their Skin City product line is very good and well-priced.
Brazilian Newbie – A friend recommended Kelly at Skin City for my first waxing in that very sensitive area. I was petrified. I have to say that Kelly is great. She understands the fears, and reservations, and is very discreet while being as gentle as possible. I highly recommend her for waxing in that oh so sensitive area.
Waxing Expertise – I am a loyal customer to Brigita at Skin City, and she is the best! Though not the most elegant salon in the city, Skin City is clean and their employees are adorable and excellently trained in what they do.
