fantastic cut! – I just came back from an appointment with Emily, and I love my hair! A friend recommended her to me, and her reviews on citysearch are 100% accurate. She is very nice and spends time talking to you about what YOU want, as opposed to so many who just assume they know. I was her last appointment on a Saturday afternoon, but she took more time than any other stylist I've had to get my cut exactly the way I wanted it, and she made sure to ask my opinion as she went along. She's so nice and friendly but also doesn't need to have a forced conversation during. Overall a great experience - and the head massage during the shampoo was so relaxing!
Fun, easy, and fast – I've gone to Blade Runners for haircuts on several occasions. I enjoy the funky atmosphere, and the staff is well trained.
i love these girls! – blade runners is awesome! I just moved here and was really nervous about going someplace new, but after a couple reccomendations I tried Blade Runners. I wasn't sure at first since everyone seemed like a typical "cool kid hipster" but everyone was super nice to me! I got an amazing head massage at the shampoo bowl and my stylist did exactly what I asked for. I was surprised to see negative reviews on here, my only advice would be that just like anywhere else, make sure to be specific and you will get what you ask for. If you're not sure what you want they are all really creative and talented and have lots of hair books to look at. They even made my super damaged hair feel soft again! Magical! I would recommend this place to anyone
Yay for Emily – I am completely neurotic about my hair, and trust very few people with it. If I get bad haircuts, I freak out and get depressed. After a number of those kinds of experiences, and about 2 1/2 years without a haircut, I ventured over to Blade Runners about a year and a half ago. I have seen three people there (two of whom have moved), and each time been happier and more trusting than before. Most recently, I followed the recommendations of several others on Citysearch and made an appointment with Emily. This was the first time I didn't bring a photo, or go with even a clear idea of the exact cut I wanted. I just told her the things I like and don't like in haircuts, and she completely understood and did an amazing, creative job. I also have to add that I am a fairly difficult client, in the sense that I can't make up my mind about anything and usually change my mind once something is done. She not only put up with it, but she listened to what I was saying and made all the little changes and she didn't seem bothered by me at all. I will definately be going back to her.
The Genius that is Emily! – I came in for a re-cut after being devastatingly butchered elsewhere. I had the great fortune of immediately getting an appointment with Emily, who not only saved my haircut, but gave me one that got multitudes of compliments, and which I have subsequently kept. She laughs when I tell her she's a genius, but seriously, SHE'S A GENIUS!
Be Careful – I have gone to Blade Runners for several years. Staff is friendly, not snobby. They give awesome cutting edge cuts...but just be sure you get the right person. I went one year ago and have not been back because this new girl did not even listen to what i wanted and she BUTCHERED my hair....gave me one inch bangs and a chin length bob, that just made my round face look like a bloated cow UDDER.....sick. so I didnt even get a haircut for a year cause I was so scarred. I dont know if she is still there, but she definitely does not fit in with the rest of the staff....who are skilled and open and listen. get a consultation first. they really care.
The BEST salon in the haight! – The staff is professional and welcoming, the atmosphere is modern and hip, and you can't beat the location. I was tired of stuffy downtown salons with pretentious attitudes, so I gave Blade Runners a try and was VERY pleased with the result.
Funky Upper Haight salon for urbanites to treat their tresses. – In Short
Bright lights beckon from this hipster hangout situated across from Amoeba. Inside, the decor feels new age and spacey with oval mirrors and halo-resembling cutouts hanging from the ceiling. Known for innovative hair coloring, you can pattern your hair after a cheetah, frost your tips like a chocolate-dipped strawberry, or just plain dye it--silver if you want. Consultations are included with each appointment.
You MUST see Lauren! – Lauren is totally metal! She's the best! Not only is she great at cut and color, but she's the nicest person you'll ever meet.
All the staff is really great and the front desk girls were especially helpful.
I <3 you, Lauren!
Want Great Color? Go See Amber! – I loved Amber! She listened attentively while I explained to her what I wanted to do with my highlights and gave me exactly what I wanted... and I am VERY PICKY! She also spent a good amount of time styling it at the end. She is sweet, attentive, and knows what she's doing. I would definitely go see Amber again.
